Joey Graceffa

So I just found out winterspringpro on youtube, someone fill me in on what this stuff is please. They cover popular song, him and Brittany who happens to live with him? I learned of Luke from Ingrid and then found out about all these other people steadily. Do they all make money from youtube alone? seems like a lot of effort is put into putting up vlogs everyday or songs or collaborations with other youtubers. It's cool in a way, do they people go to school and do this on the side or what?

Well Joey has interviewed quite a few celebs for teen.com (i think that's the site) so I'm sure he probably gets compensated somehow from that.

I am sure he does, but WHY would they want him out of all people doing interviewing?

It's because of his audience. He's interviewing stars like Selena (It was the cast of Wizards of Waverly Park), so it meets his target audience. When they see that he's sending all his viewers to their site, they make more income. Plus, since he's not a big celeb himself or actually trained in journalism, they really wouldn't have to pay him as much.

I normally don't have anything negative to say about Joey (can't wait till he comes here in March!!) but don't like that he lied about being sponsored from NBC. It's really not a huge deal that he is at all, I just don't like lying. I expect it from beauty gurus but not random vloggers. I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt but What The Buck said he was sponsored for saying pretty much the same thing as Joey so its pretty hard to argue that he wasn't sponsored.

He did though. I had thought I posted a screen cap of his comment in this thread before but I just scanned through and didn't see it. I'll try to find where it went or try to take another one. In the meantime, I commented on his video and said that "NBC must be getting desperate if theyre sponsoring all these youtubers to promote them" and he said "nah I'm not sponsored, I just really love this show and am helping out!"

I think it was in Luke's thread...and a "lie of omission" is a lie when it comes to sponsorship. You're supposed to have FTC disclaimers for videos.

I still think Joey is gay or bi.. he said in one of his more recent vlogs that him and his mom don't get along anymore bc of something he chose and wouldn't go into detail bc he didn't know if he was ready to share it yet... my mind went straight to the gay thing (no pun intended)... I know we'll probably never get an answer, and I like him either way, but the curiosity notch is high for me.

Joey is NOT straight. Whatever he defines himself as, I don't know, but if he said he was straight, I would be absolutely shocked. Shocked.

And yeah, not gonna lie...when he mentioned he had issues with his mom it's also got me thinking about his sexuality.
But who knows, maybe tomorrow we'll find out about what was his problem with his mom.

Seriously...listen to it all the time, I'm listening to it now xD.

I'm still watching it, so I don't have a full opinion, but I know how hard alcoholism can be. I've never had it affect me that closely with a parent (although my dad is a bit of a drunk), but I've definitively had my fair share of experiences with drug and alcohol abuse and it affecting my family. It takes a lot of courage to speak on this kind of stuff, as it is a sensitive/shamed secret for most people.

As much as I rag on Luke/Ingrid, I really am thankful for them introducing me to Joey. I like him a lot and while I sometimes let other vids by yters build up in my subbox, I watch his as they come in.

This couldn't have been easy to talk about and anyone that "knows" him (as much as you can through daily vlogging) knows he didn't do this for sympathy or anything. I give him major props.

I think someone at MTV is a Joey Graceffa fan - they included him in a poll about who should be cast to play Finnick in the Hunger Games movie:

And Joey's fan base (yes including me) are all voting him up ... last I checked he had 58% of the votes. Got to love the power of social media!

The fact that Joey's name is even on the poll is a slap in the face to real actors. Speaking from experience (I have a Professional Artist Degree in Theatre and a BFA in Theatre and Music), people spend a lot of time, energy, money, and effort working on the craft of acting and film and television. The fact that he makes youtube videos and decides he wants to play Finnick is extremely presumptuous and quite annoying. Add to it these little pre-teen/teenage girls blowing smoke up his ass, and it's sickening. Hopefully they will give the role to someone who is way more deserving.

I like Joey&Co's Hunger Games parodies, but he is no kind of Finnick. Of course, silly Internet polls aren't going to affect any casting director's decisions...but I really hope Joey is promoting all this for the luls and not because he thinks he actually would make a good Finnick. Personally, I think Arnie Hammer would be good. He's a good actor and has the right look (whereas someone like Garrett Hedlund is not the "pretty" type). Joey would look way younger than all his "teenage" costars too.

Well to be fair, Joey has said he's starting to take professional acting classes and is working on perfecting his craft. I think he is serious about wanting to be a real actor someday.

Imo, Joey's been pretty rude about this.
I saw on his twitter he put something along the lines "That Armie guy isn't even that hot!!!" and then in his vlog today he said "Seriously if that Armie guy gets to be Finnick Im not even going to watch it. Just kidding!"

Real professional, considering Arnie Hammer could theoretically be cast and then Joey could theoretically be interviewing him for that site. I think it's a great opportunity for Joey to have this Teen.com gig, it's like a real job, but he's so immature about it. Remember how he made the video about his first interview and he was insulting Selena Gomez, saying she was awkward and kind of rude? Then there was all this vitriol against her in his comments! Seriously, she wasn't even rude in the interview, she probably gets asked questions that make her feel uncomfortable so often and can't react all "super happy! perfect! sunshine!" to it all the time. Even if she had been a total bitch and punched him in the face, it's still unprofessional to insult her online like that.

I thought the same thing when I saw the Selena Gomez video! I love Joey and understand that he wanted to vlog about the interview, but he really should've acted more professional about the whole situation, especially since it's not just himself that he is representing, but Teen.com too.
