My Everyday Hair Routine

Post  hyperhan123 on 28th November 2011, 2:11 pm

what did you guys think?
i personally liked it! i thought she looked really pretty in it, and i love the fact that when she films videos she stays on topic and doesn't ramble on like Blair...it's also not sponsored either!
i give it a thumbs up! (:
i've really been liking Elle a lot latley...

It was fine but something bothers me about her hair. It always looks so stiff.

The video was fine, i agree with all that you said but I only watched it because I was bored but I honestly have no interest in her hair routine...My only comment was that she uses SO many products...like to each their own, but I don't know how anyone could spend so much time on their hair. All I use is shampoo and conditioner and my hair is so soft and silky and healthy, I just feel like the extra crap is so not needed. But again, if she wants to spend all that time on her hair then go for it.
Otherwise the video was good, not something i'm interested in personally but like you said it was unsponsored and she stayed on one train of thought so that's good enough for me

SAME! all i use is shampoo and conditioner, and i just recently started using a heat tamer before blow drying and my hair is healthy as can be! it looks really shiny, and is super soft!
i think it's cuz they colour their hair so much, and wash it so often... i don't even know why blair would colour her hair in the first place...her natural hair colour looks exactly the same as it does now...i see no difference.

Girl uses wayyyy too much and that's why it looks so fryed all the time.

The less you use, the better! I shampoo/condition my hair and blowdry it (sometimes let it air dry) and it's good to go. Looks healthy and is natural. I don't even own any hair products.

I don't color my hair or use heat on it daily so I don't need any special products on my hair, just good ol shampoo, conditioner, and heat protector. I stay away from coloring my hair because I don't want to have to take care of it as much as you do when you color your hair. With all the heat the two of them use on their hair I would imagine they need repair masques for their hair. To each their own, but I think that the Aussie 3 minute miracle is great for when you feel your hair needs a pick me up.

I only use salon hair care products on my hair, I dislike drugstore hair care because its not the same as salon and I don't color my hair anymore, I haven't done that in years, if I ever did it again it would be for just a few highlights and that's is it.

I love Biosilk and Redken, Michael O'Rourke Moisture Madness, Nioxin etc, which is what I have been using recently because my hair is fine, and its great.
I use a heat protector every time I blow dry my hair unless I don't blow dry.

I usually get my hair cut every couple of my months and I have to go to Jersey to get it done and my niece does a amazing job on my hair, hopefully before Christmas I can get it done
again. I really want it cut, just for maintenance.

Elle's hair care routine is a lot, but it seems it works for her, her hair looks nice! the video was good, but as always it could be more real
and less forced. Very Happy

Of course you do, Sarah. Of course you do. However did you survive in Tennessee before you met your Daddy Wabucks?

Honestly, I've used Biosilk, Redkin, Paul Mitchel, and other stuff like that but because I only wash my hair once to twice a week because of how naturally coarse and thick it is, Suave works just as well for me.
The only products I put into my hair are shampoo, conditioner, and a leave-in conditioner (Generic brand from Sally's. Huge bottle for about $5 and lasts me ages)
I add a heat protectant if I'm straightening it, but lately I've just been putting it into a french braid and then into a bun.

I don't use conditioner very often mainly because my hair is fine and the shampoo and heat protector is enough for moisture, I don't wash my hair all the time, but I should because it gets
greasy way too quickly and I hate that, I've used suave before and I cannot stand it, its something I dislike, however Paul Mitchell is good, however there are some salon products that I don't like and
my hair gets used to them so its the same after a while using it. Sad

Yeah my sister is a beautician (or whatever everyone else calls it) and I don't even use Salon products unless she gives them to me for christmas or my birthday. I use good ol Pert Plus for Oily/Fine hair and it works perfectly. It is the only 2in1 shampoos that I have ever found that works for me. I have super healthy hair and use drugstore products so I am proof you don't need to waste all that money on the crap.

saying theres no difference between drug store hair care and salon hair care is a bit bias. its like saying theres no difference between highend make up and that found at the drug store. yes there are some drug store products that do an awesome job, but over all you get what you pay for with higher end products. i personally find when i try to use a cheaper shampoo/conditioner my hair is much frizzier and harder to manage, and i have natural hair very similar to elle's natural hair. with me the more expensive products to a better job at locking in the moisture without leaving a film on my hair.

i also feel the need to use a lot of product on my hair to manage and tame it. it sounds like most of you guys don't need to use product because your natural hair is easy to manage, but with mine if i dont use different types of gel and mouse and hair sprays it gets out of control. good for you guys for having awesome natural hair, but for those of us who don't product is a must!

Oh it definitely does depend on the type of hair that you have. My sister's hair is dry and thick so it gets frizzy a lot more so for her the salon shampoos she carries and uses works better for her. I was just saying that some Salons and people make it out like drugstore shampoos are awful and that you absolutely need to buy the $30 bottle of shampoo when in reality there are some really good brands at Target that will get the job done sometimes. If I had colored hair or processed it I would probably buy the salon stuff because I would need something to help manage it better.

Since we're discussing our favorite shampoos/conditoners/the like, I like Paul Mitchell "baby don't cry" shampoo (yes I know it's for babies but don't knock it 'til you've tried it!!), Very Sexy conditoner (if I can find it!!), and Aussie 3 minute miracle deep conditioner. I use chi 44 iron guard when I blowdry/straighten/curl my hair.

Since we're discussing the video, I thought it...was pleasant. Nothing more, nothing less. I think she's just trying to fill the void until her room tour video is ready to be posted.

I agree & my hair sounds like your hair! It's also frizzy & kinda wild lol I use drugstore products and manage fine tho. I find that it isn't even just drugstore brands, it's the cheaper ones. My guess is that they contain more sulphates or SLS instead of other ingredients, hence making them cheaper.

My HG products are all Garnier Fructis Sleek and Shine, which at my ds is about 6-7 bucks each (as opposed to 2.99 r wtv). I also use other products, mousse and styling lotion, or heat protectant and flat iron spray but it's all drugstore brands. Even Batiste is ds n I it!

I really like Herbal Essences "Long Term Relationship" for long hair. :) I've never used a high end shampoo before, I don't think. But Long Term Relationship works really well for my hair. I use the conditioner, too.

I liked Elle's video. I don't have anything to say about it really... She definitely uses more products than I would ever use. I just have a straightener, blow dryer, heat protectant, and shampoo/conditioner. I don't see the point in using all that product. Her hair looks good but I know plenty of people who have great looking hair and they don't use nearly half of what she does.

yeah i have highlights currently so maybe thats why i notice a difference, i mean i use some drug store products and at my parents house that is all i have (i hate traveling with anything so i keep extra product/makeup/clothing there... makes packing a breeze!) but it just doesn't seem that my hair is as healthy or easy to style. i usually wait for the buy one get one free litters at ulta.. for only a little more than a drug store shampoo and conditioner set i get a higher quality product Smile i usually just bulk up and get 2-3 different types and rotate out my liters when i feel like it.

i love the sleek and shine line, it was my preferred line til i got more into beauty products and started trying out more expensive brands. i still use the curl sculpting cream-gel by garnier but if i dont mix it with my curlkarma by brocato i find i get a lot more fly aways. ever since i started using the joico k-pak shampoo and conditioner i find that the garnier shampoos and conditioners seem to dry out my hair too much. when i am at my parents house i manage just fine using only drug store but i def notice a difference in the condition of my hair, as well as how my hair curls. you should really check out the curlkarma at ulta if it sounds like you have similar hair... i believe its only like 12-15 dollars which i understand is about twice as expensive but for me it last a lot longer since i dont use as much and it really does make a difference.

i dont think she uses too many products on her hair.
i have very dry hair and curly hair, and i use at least 4 products to keep it from getting frizzy-afro like. i use shampoo & conditioner for dry and damaged hair, hair cream, serum and sometimes on really bad days, hair wax and hair mask. and i dont use any heat on it.
and with all that stuff, my hair becomes "normal-hair" like in 4 days and oily in a week.

To me, Elle uses a lot of hair products. But I might just be saying that because I only use shampoo, conditioner, and the Tresemme Heat Tamer Spray and my hair is nice and healthy. I even color my hair and it's not dry or anything like that. But like all beauty products, it's all about personal preference.

Oh, and my favorite shampoo and conditioner are the Burt's Bee's Very Volumizing. I like them because there are no harsh sulfates, are paraben free, and leave my hair nice and soft. My only complaint is that it's a little pricey and you don't get a lot of product.

We all know how Elle likes to pamper herself and this is just another way for her to do it. Yeah she doesn't NEED all those products, but it makes her feel good to use them and to have the feeling like she is always papering her hair and body. Its just a difference of choice. She likes the feeling that using those products give her.

I liked the video and I think that she (and her hair lol) looked gorgeous. It's weird because last year people were talking about her looking sick and "anorexic", but now she looks great and that topic of conversation has switched to Blair. However, I do agree that she uses WAY too much product. Shampoo, deep conditioner, leave in conditioner, heat protection spray, mousse, smoothing serum, root booster etc. No wonder she has to wash her hair "everyday." I use to have really long, thick hair, and I did basically the same thing. I would use shampoo and leave in conditioner, shine serum, heat protectant, root boosting spray, and a split ender mender; and my hair got greasy within just a day of washing it. Once I cut down on the products (just shampoo, conditioner, and a heat protectant with built in smoothing/shine capabilities), I could get away with washing my hair once every three days. Maybe it works for Elle, but some little girl out there is going to follow her routine to a T and wake up looking like she put a container of Vaseline in her hair lol.
