Yeah, staying real!
I don't get one thing: why are they always doing stuff and never inform their subscribers first? I mean have they ever mentioned a book?

That's a good question. This happened with the reality tv show - MTV got a quote/conversation with someone directly involved who works at Kinetic Content, who confirmed the show and they were all like "OMG there are lotz of rumurz about why we moved here but if anything is true we tell you first we swear!!!!" But if that was the case, they would have told their subscribers about the book first.

And I feel like the "fiction based on our lives" is a direct LC copy...they jus want to be the new LC mixed with mary Kate and Ashley - they want tv, youtube, a book deal, clothing lines....

These "celebrity" books make me sick to my stomach. Ghost writers put together some stupid novel (I don't consider this type of literature to be a novel but a mindless collection of words) and people buy it because of the name that's attached to it. Elle and Blair aren't writing anything. They are having meetings with their ghost writer and answering questions to piece together a story that somehow makes just enough sense to be published. There are people with real talent in the beauty, fashion and writing world that deserve what these dimwhits are getting handed on a silver platter. It's disgusting.

Oh gawd. A novel loosely based on their lives? What tiny fraction of their lives could possibly be interesting enough to put in a book?

I just don't know what will be in that book. I mean, it's not like they are gonna write about their private lives. (Smae for the tv show: if there's no drama, what's the point?)

i've made a list of things they've told random interviewers before telling their fans, or even never ended up telling them. i don't know where it is now, but here's the summary: they never inform their subscribers first. which wouldn't be a big deal. EXCEPT blair is ALWAYS raving about how transparent she is to "us guys" and how she "always tells us guys first and at the exact moment she can".

they're sooooooooo rill Rolling Eyes sometimes i wonder if theyre only where they are now because blair's compulsive and sociopathic lying stirs up so much contraversy.

I can shed some light on why they didn't tell their subscribers: usually when you are doing a project like this you are not allowed to release information until a certain date or unless you are in certain situations (i.e., talking to press).

So, say an actress is going to be in a movie in which information hasn't been released yet. In an interview with Conan O'Brien, she might be allowed to say, "I'm working on a project with Steven Spielberg that's going to come out next fall" but on her personal blog or Twitter she would not be allowed to say a word about it.
And then there is usually a date when they are finally allowed to mention the project. Lauren Conrad's new book, even though she had been working on it for a long time, couldn't be mentioned until just recently, for instance.

It's all based on book and film publishing companies' rules, regulations, and contractual obligations. Lots of legal shit that is way beyond my comprehension.

So I'm not really annoyed that the two of them never mentioned it to us. What I am annoyed about is the fact that they're doing a novel in the first place. What a stupid idea. Neither of them have ever mentioned an enjoyment of writing before. I bet it's going to be exactly like the L.A. Candy series. Ridiculous.

much like all of the bullshit manifested by blair, the issue is a bit deeper than that. it's not whether they're allowed to tell us or not, it's that blair tells us she always tells us first - before anyone else.

ime and time again this has proven to be a lie, but she keeps at it. it's manipulative; she toys with subscribers who aren't old or mature enough to scrutinize their surroundings. it makes them feel like blair is their buddy who always has them in mind (especially if you buy essie nail polish and tweet her a picture of it, then you guys can be BFFs). it's gross.

Did you read the rest of Lockets post? Blair has said that as soon as she COULD tell her subs something, she would and apparently she cannot yet tell them what it is. She was able to tell interviewers because like Locket said, its part of press. Its probably in their contract that until such and such date, they cannot release any information via twitter, youtube or website. She has said many times "we are working on really exciting projects but we can't talk about it or say what it is yet" When they do announce it, I would best bet that they will say something along the lines of "We really wanted to tell you guys and we just got the OK to announce it". They aren't lying to their subs, they are most likely just obeying their contract.

Plus its just common sense.. why would they mention a book that probably isn't going to come out for another 6 months? They would just get flooded with emails and comments that keep asking when the books coming out and blah blah blah.. it would probably be annoying after awhile.

Yes, I did. Blair changes up what she says. Sometimes she says that she tells us as soon as she can. She didn't even start saying that however until late last spring.

You mean... Like when they moved to LA, and Blair told a random makeup artist (not the press) she had just met? Mmmhmm..

Not to sound like a hater, but I have friends who are working their a$$es off in school just so they can become good authors.

But you have these two broads who are known just for putting on makeup and scamming girls and they get book deals.I could understand if they were celebrities but they DON'T DO ANYTHING.

Sorry if I sounded like a hater but it's the truth.

oh god.. a book about their lives? what? i'd get it if they'd release a book about beauty or fashion, cuz that's the "industry they're in", but a book about their lives? what the hell? okay, i get it, their "fans" want an insight to the glorious lives of elle and blair fowler, who are living in L.A, but honestly, they never share anything juicy with their viewers anyway, so why would the book be any different? it's just going to be approx. 100-200 pages of them talking around corners about.. you know, never mind, i can't even guess what they could write about

random makeup artist? Where was this mentioned.. sorry I don't remember her mentioning that she was moving to LA to a makeup artist.

It was the guy who did her brows & told her to use two layers of foundation. He tweeted her, "when are you moving to LA?" or something to that effect, and she ignored it. I mean, this is of course past the fact that moving to LA doesn't reveal contract-binding plans.

Blair always hides things from subscribers, perhaps to build hype. Blair could easily explain some of her contractual obligations to her subscribers, but she doesn't. She didn't even come out and say she has a stylist until her stylist made that video. She doesn't reveal side projects she does for money after they've been made public - instead she tries to hide those too.

I'm not sure why you think I just "don't understand" that sometimes projects cannot be announced until certain dates or under certain circumstances. And hey, now that the cat's out of the bag about the book, why is she still ignoring followers? Although I guess you could attribute that one to her general not giving a @#$%^ about anyone who can't further her "career".
