Which guru is a real MUA?

This month's Makeup Artist magazine features Lauren Luke, EnKore, and Pursebuzz.

pursebuzz's tutorials are always so sloppy to me and her intros are beyond cheesy

Pursebuzz and Enkore are probably the only MUA'S that I would actually trust. Lauren Luke sucks and I cannot believe that she has her own Makeup Line which no one's buys..

Lauren gotten sooo annoying lately. She does fashion video now. Enkore is weird. Pursebuzz's become a skank.

All 3 of them are bit quirky. It makes them more likeable than the other cookie cutter "gurus" out there... that just review products and do the same crappy looks.

Being a makeup artist is a complete joke now. It used to be an art and used to be a real career but, now everyone and their mom is a MUA. I was thinking about all the real MUA who went to IMATS and thinking in their heads "WTF DO THESE LITTLE GIRLS THINK THIS IS DISNEYLAND?"

I understand some of these "guru's" are talented ,but its a very small percentage...very, very small.

yeah it really is. i feel really bad for the ACTUAL makeup artists who paid and went to school to make a living and can't even show their 10 minutes of fame..when all you have are 4938739843 "gurus" doing it and getting paid for making stupid videos. its really sad.

That's why I only subscribe to the legit MUAs, like pixiwoo and enkoremakeup, who have actually gone through cosmetology school and training. They are real professionals in the business, unlike that phony MP. But I guess people watch her because they can relate. I mean, even her IQQU slogan is something along the lines of, "Made by the people for the people."

i love queenofblendingmua. she also actually went to cosmotology school and is a legit makeup artist that actually gets payed to do other people's makeup. Also, theres no drama or shit going on with her. her looks are extremely unique and really creative its not just elle or blair putting on blue eyeshadow and calling it a "look."

Hi guys I just disocvered this forum and I have a question, a very simple question: which one of youtube gurus is the real makeupartist? I know that Siobhan is, but.... that's it ? I know that there's Kandee Johnson but recently it seems like she's living off her youtube channel not from her makeup work. I know that there's Marlena from MakeUpGeekTV - I really like her, but has someone seen any work she has done on somebody ? I'm asking about it because this girls like Kandee or Marlena are having their Glaminars or another makeup classes but they rarely or never show us their makeup work. It's strange.. I know that TiffanyD proclaims her as MUA but clearly she's not, she's doing makeup only on her sister in law, which is so funny. I see it this way : they are girls with big ego like TiffanyD, with big talent - there's no doubt in that, but since they've found out that yourube is a good place to earn money they become too lazy to do a real job. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe you guys know something that I dont ?

Oh gosh. I couldn't agree more. I feel totally bad for these legits MUA who works for a living and now, every freaken guru on youtube is a god damn makeup artist.

Its literally sad. Like I said before, Youtube and it's "GURUS" are taking away the credibility of real working makeup artists, who works days in and out to get a name branded for themselves and people like MP or fucken TiffanyD, get a little recognition on youtube and they become some holy shit fucken ALMIGHTY GENIUS makeup artist. .

I dont understand, these gurus call themselves " MUA's" But walk around IMATS like a fucken guests when in actuality, if they were true working MUA's , they would be working their asses off at a fucken Kett booth or Makeup Forever Pro booth and not walking around like some fucken D-LIST CELEBRITY. . .

Youtube is wack now. Everyone and their fucken moms have a damn channel and is doing makeup and is a "working makeup artist".

Sorry to say it, but a damn working makeup artists doesn't have time to sit their ass in front of a camera, filming and editing their shit for hours. When they are working hard trying to make a damn buck. Not relying on how many god damn views or subscribers they have.

queenofblendingMUA is an actual MUA. she makes really creative bright colorful looks that a makeup artist should actually make instead of slappin on some eyeliner and calling it a day.

That's why Michelle Phan fucks up so many girls' skin for listening to every shit she says and even LANCOME COMPANY is so same dumb!LOL!!! If i could,i wouln't allow skincare tutorial vids to be shown on YOUTUBE by non licensees!It's a mess and out of control for online stuffs,ppl can list anything they want about themselves on their websites and it's dangerous to know if they really are "all of that said" with their names!

What can i say when Lancome allows the fakest youtube guru to becone their spokesperson and makeup artist without license and place her equal to their pro makeup artists.It's time for the stateboard of cosmetologists to stop requiring license to practice in this profession.LOL.

oh hell. Not only are the "moms" starting their own fucked up channel, but the sisters and friends of these random ass "guru's" have also started making beauty videos! (WHICH DON'T HELP ANYONE.. BTW.)
WHAT THE FUCK? And most of the videos are repetitive! If one chick is doing the purple look, the other chick is doing the same. For example, Dulce and Sonia (sscastenada) are apparently bff now and they actually get together and plan out similar videos. Fucking stupid as hell.
DULCE sucks at make-up and all she's good for is sitting in her closet and talking about how much she bought.
And that sonia chick is always talking about her baby and how people call her fat.

Most of the 14-15 year olds chicks have NO talent whatsoever! And because they can't do anyone's make-up for shit, they start hauling and doing shitty tags like.. "WHAT'S IN MY PURSE".. seriously gtfo.

Anyways, most of the time you can tell who knows their stuff. I agree with most people on here about the pixiwoo sisters. They are really good with make-up and actually do worth while tutorials. They have good lighting and good quality videos. Unlike random fake people such as, TiffanyD, elle and blair.. or whatever the fuck their names are, the pixiwoo sisters have something good to share.

PETRILUDE is also good with his make-up and he knows how to work the magic. Also, Kandee Johnson is a professional make-up artist. I love her halloween work! She's amazing.

Other then that, no one else knows shit. They can fuck themselves in the ass with their 50 dollar mac brushes. I am so sick of it ...

Unfortunately, Makeup Artistry DOES NOT require a license from stateboard (at least here in CA.) If that was the case, anyone dealing with makeup (like dept. store makeup counters) will have to do their hours at a makeup school, and take a written and practical test. Too bad it's not like that. I went to beauty school, had to take a loan out because the school I went to was one of the best in my area, and paid my dues. I passed the stateboard test, now I'm a licensed cosmetologist (which means I learned everything from doing nails to doing hair) and now I rent my own station at a salon, and I'm also a freelancing MUA. Not all great makeup artists went to cosmetology school...(Mally Roncal for example) but they did start from the very bottom. And FYI, Kandee Johnson has shown some of her work in her earlier blogging days. The TRUE artists, notice I say artist and not GURU, I respect are: GOSSMAKEUPARTIST, PIXIWOO/PIXI2WOO, GLITTERDOLLZ7 (however, I don't know if she does it for a living, but she's pretty damn good), and KANDEE JOHNSON. All these so-called working "MUA" should be working out in the field, instead of making videos. Photoshoots/TV shoots take FOREVER, and require tons, and tons of reapplying so...I don't understand how some of them make tons of videos. And if you notice, they apply makeup on other people, like how they apply their own makeup, instead of customizing it to the client's actual needs. Then again, everything takes practice. But seriously, not everything is a "smokey eye." If the smokey eye received royalties, it'd be one rich person!

i've seen her blog and she's posts a lot of pictures of her work (mainly weddings)
its such a shame that almost all of her videos are sponsored though because its such a turnoff to most people.
