The "Lazy Eye" Argument.
I honestly just have to ask. Why does it seem like everyone gets so bent out of shape about gurus who have a lazy eye? Maybe it's because i have a minor lazy eye (has mostly gone away, but every once in awhile seems to be more noticeable), but I see no reason they should be damned for it. It's not something they brought upon themselves, or anything like that.
It might just be two of the gurus whose sections I visit, but man do they get some hate for it.
Anyways, I'm just wondering about what everyone thinks about it?
To me, there are so many other things that they should be called out on, not something that is beyond their control.

People complain about that? Wow, that's something most people can't help unless they have money for surgery and want to take that risk. Seems pretty petty to complain about.

Re: The "Lazy Eye" Argument.
It's in at least two gurus threads. I just don't understand how people can pick on them for it.
It just seems below the belt to me.
I mean, I make jokes about myself having one "grew up part pirate" (had to wear a patch for a few hours each night to strengthen the one eye) but I still would never mock someone else for it.
But, I'm not much for picking apart physical appearances that aren't controlled. (If they talk about their diets, that's different to me)

I have a lazy eye myself and I actually think they look cute on a lot of people, to be honest.

i've noticed that as well, in the elle and megan forum, and it's pretty sickening, imo. apparently (in their own words) they find mocking a person's physical appearance satisfying and think this is a "hate" site. it's sad, really.

Those are exactly the threads I was referring to. I've been trying to explain that it isn't a hate site, but it's been falling of deaf ears.
I honestly would not be a part of this site if it were simply for hate. I don' believe in that. However, this site has a lot of intelligent people who constructively criticize videos and bring valid information to the table. (I also really enjoy the Misc. section)
I just don't understand how one's physical features that they were born with s ever a basis to make fun of and mock.

Re: The "Lazy Eye" Argument.
I actually thought about starting up a youtube channel but decided not to because I knew I'd have people hating on me because #1 I have a bit of a lazy eye (I was hit in the eye with a baseball bat when I was 2yr, also had to wear a patch full time as a kid because of this) #2 one side of my face is a little different than the other because I had bell's palsy. I don't understand why people hate on others for things they can't help, but you know it's never going to change. Some people just don't know where to draw the line.

Re: The "Lazy Eye" Argument.
of course its a stupid thing to make fun of. i just browse past those comments and barely take notice of them. it probably affects you more because you're sensitive to it as you had a mild form of it yourself, which is understandable.
you could have the discussion about the way people make fun of peoples' big noses. im guessing that someone who was sensitive about their own nose would be more upset about people making fun of someone's big nose too.
see my point? i think it just means you are being more empathetic as you understand what it's like. i agree it's a mean thing to make fun of though - as are a lot of the things people find funny, but hey ho. tis life.

Re: The "Lazy Eye" Argument.
Amber, that's terrible! I can definitely understand the fear, I'd have it too.
Tictac, I definitely see what you mean. It probably is that I'm just more keen to this because of having one myself, even if it doesn't bother me.
But I guess my argument can be applied to any natural physical appearance. I just don't understand the need for that type of criticism.

im really sorry that happened to you, it must be so hard to live with and deal with peoples' nasty comments. i think you could get a lot of respect if you did videos. you would be representing a group of people suffering from the same things as you and being a positive role model for them as well as raising awareness which the world really needs.
those people from the UK will know what i mean, but we had this documentary recently about a girl called katie piper. she's amazing. she suffered an accident where someone threw acid in her face and totally disfigured and burned her beyond recognition. she made a documentary where she set up a foundation to help other burn victims and be a positive role model for them to help get them through it.
no matter what she looks like, you cannot hate on this girl because she is so incredible to put herself out there and take the first step to lead so many others in her position. check her out, im sure she will inspire everyone. love her. you can do it too, dont let what anyone thinks stop you from making videos if that's what you want to do.

She sounds like a true inspiration. I'm going to try looking her up on Youtube or something later today.

Re: The "Lazy Eye" Argument.
I hate that too! Poor Elle gets given such a hard time just because her eyes aren't perfectly symmetrical. I'm all for calling gurus out when they do shady stuff but mocking someones physical appearance about something they really can't help is just spiteful and childish. If they've done bad things by all means criticize them for it but just being a cow over what someone looks like even if they are a beauty 'guru' just does not sit well with me. I don't have a lazy eye (well I don't think I do!) I just have one eye that's a bit hooded and one that's not so my face isn't really at all symmetrical and I never felt self conscious about it until this forum! It's put me right off ever making a video.
It's like using the example of Elle (again sorry!), on unknown critic she was totally ripped into about her nose, she gets a nose job, she gets ripped into for having surgery. For all the slightly shady stuff she's done she's still human but it's like she can't win
I agree with tictac, Katie Piper is an AMAZING lady, a real inspiration she's the kind of lady you wish young girls would idolize because she truly deserves it for being so strong and using her hardship to help others .
