Talk about your pets here!
I thought I'd make a thread about member's pets. Everyone list yours and how/why you got them and post a pic if you have one.
I have a pet eyelash crested gecko. His name is Artemis after the cat on sailormoon. He is 5-6 months old and I got him at petsmart. He has grown a lot since I got him but I had to wean him off babyfood to proper food for him which took about a month. He looks healthy after I fattened him up with a couple of wax worms and now eats his crested gecko diet with occasionally crickets as treats or fruit. His skin is very soft and it's cute to watch him jump hand to hand. He has only made a noise I've heard twice since I got him but maybe he will make more when he's an adult. I choose him because I wanted a reptile that was easy to care for and didn't have alot of health issues and they look very cute with big eyes and a big head. He seems very happy in his well accessorized home.
I also have a cat named shadow who is all black. She is nearly 17 years old. Eariler this month we found out she went blind
We determined it was from age and that her retina's have detached. It was not from high blood pressure which is usually the cause of sudden loss of vision in cats. Other than than the doctor said she is healthy for her age, but there is nothing that can be done for her vision since it would even be too risky to try and repair her eyes at her age. She gets around using her other senses and doesn't run into things much because she can feel with her whiskers. She also likes to be petted more and picked up.

I have a dog (Leonberger) named Missy. She just turned 8 years old. I had her full-blooded brother but he died at the almost age of 10 last April. We miss him terribly as he was a big part of our life and home.
I have 16 cats (don't ask
). I was feeding a stray and the stray had 2 litters before I could catch her and get her spayed.
I have 8 chickens of various breeds (2 Cochins, 2 Buff Orpingtons, 2 Buff Brahmas and 2 Silky Bantams) all hens (no roos).
I have 4 pekin ducks.
I want 2 draft horses someday.

I have a Pomeranian named Chanel. I got her in March 2008, she was only 3 months old and weighed 2 3/4 pounds - tiny! She was supposed to be my dog but she eventually became the family dog and I have to leave her behind when I move out
so sad. Her favorite hobby is eating, barking at the neighbors is a close second.
This was her first night with us.

This one is just funny.. she's so vicious.

Above all - she's a Diva.

I also have a cat named Nala that we've had since she was a kitten. She's almost 11 years old and has the greenest eyes I've ever seen.

I'm so loving this!! Okay I know most of society has strong opinions about rodents but I just love them. Always have too. So please be respectful of my buddies even if they gross you out. Mind you they are domesticated! We give them baths routinely & they do see the vet like all other pets.
This is Whitey! (We weren't creative with the names at all) She was a gift from my boyfriend for my 20th birthday. She wasn't the most intelligent of all of our buddies but I loved her just the same. Oh & I should mention that is NOT my leg...it's my boyfriends.

Peanut Butter. She had the most chill demeanor of any mouse we've ever had!

Maleby, our only boy mouse. (Told you we weren't creative) I didn't really like him in the beginning because he would dribble but when I got over that boy did I love him! He was the most social of all of them! He would run to his cage door when he saw us & he would sit on our shoulders for hours. He just loved the company & we loved his! Also if you see on his side he has a patch of fur missing. He was our only male & being that he's a social animal it was stressful on him to be the only mouse in his cage. SO my boyfriend & I tried to spend as much time with him as possible to alleviate the stress of being alone.

& this is my baby Mommy!

I also have a black cat named Shadow! I had gotten him from an elderly woman who was going into a home. She gave him to me because she wasn't able to keep him anymore. He's about 14 now & the biggest pain in my ass! When I'm on the phone he cries so loud people think he's a child.

This one time I dared my (then six-year-old) sister to lick our hampster. She did. And another time she "lost" our hampster...turns out she had put him the teapot and we found him 3 days later (luckily alive!).

O my goodness!!
That is an absolutely gorgeous cat, so beautiful.
I love all animals though, but I just HAD to say something about that beauty.
She looks a bit like a norwegian forestcat, but maybe less hairy, any chance that's in her blood??
I had a cat for 13 years, she passed away last summer. She was diabetic, which was very hard to control and made her vision go poor. She also had kidneystones and bladderinfections.
But she was a cat like no other, she was very vocal and could say 'mama'

Re: Talk about your pets here!
I have a cat named Annie and she will be three in may. She is so small people think she is a kitten. She is fully grown but weights about as much as a chihuahua.
She is a crazy one! She gets into everything. She likes plastic bags and sleeping in them but as she climbs out of them she gets her head caught in a handle. When i try to pull her out she thinks we are playing so i have to chase her all over my apartment with the bag flying out from her like a cape!
She likes to knock things off of tables for attention, If you tell her off she will find ways to punish you. My husband told her to get off his desk because he was working so she walked into the living room, jumped onto the coffee table, and rubbed her head on the opening of his soda can until there was a pile up of hair. If i didnt see her do it, he would have drank from it!
She likes to play with cotton balls and one day i purchased a bag of marshmallows. she kept trying to open the bag and i kept yelling at her that it was food. she didnt listen so i got mad at her and put a marshmallow in front of her thinking she would see it isnt anything fun and leave them alone. She sniffed it, bit a chunk out of, it and ate it before i could pull it out of her mouth!
here is a picture of her swimming in a giant box full of packing peanuts that came from a package my husband ordered. I love her more then anything.

You're one ugly ass person (on the inside) to say that about an innocent little dog

There are many dogs in this world that are deemed ugly by many but they are no less deserving of love and protection. Grow up and go volunteer at an animal shelter.

Jasey <3
This is my puppy. I love and miss him dearly.
He's quite energetic, but he's also very sweet and likes to spend several hours a day cuddling with me on the couch <3
(Sorry for the picture spam; I think he's cute enough to justify it, though.)

Taken at his "graduation" from "puppy school"

He just turned 13 this March, so he's a bit of an oldie, but acts hyper like a puppyHe is a full blooded Yorkshire Terrier, and let me tell you he is TROUBLE, but I love him to death. He is very smart and acts almost like a human
He knows a few good commands, like sit, stay, lay down, speak, plus more. and he is very loyal. He loves to snuggle with you especially if you are laying down or sitting Indian-style he will jump right in your lap XD And if you aren't paying attention to him, or even if you are hugging someone in front of him, he gets so jealous, it's hilarious! The funny thing is, he is getting very spoiled haha, He usually gets treats only when we ask him for it and if he does a proper command. Now as for a treat, only sometimes he demands it, (NOT my fault, my mother's friend always gives him treats without doing commands for it & we get mad at her for it) It's funny though, he will sit by the counter where the treats are and grunt and growl until he gets his way, basically throws a temper tantrum haha. He acts like a little baby too, he always wants me to pick him up and hold him, but sometimes I try to avoid it because he has bad arthritis at his old age so I don't want to make it worse for him. So much I could say about my beloved doggy, but I would probably bore you guys to death if I haven't already XD
Thats a cute name! My aunt had a Yorkie...I wasn't a fan of her though she had the worst dog breath & used to fart like a machine. It's was awful. Anyway they are cute & super friendly.

I love that you have a mouse too!! I loved my mice like they were my children & I am so glad to see someone else here has one also. Sadly, they don't live very long & all mine had passed. I want more but I had grown so attached to each & every one of them that with each death it got harder & harder. They are truly amazing pets, friends, & family members!

Re: Talk about your pets here!
My family has two cats and a dog.
One is an orange tabby with a short, malformed tail. His fur on his tail is long and covers up his hook end (which he can't move). We got him at a shelter on a military base in Japan. My mother chose him because we had another orange tabby in California that we had to give away. He knows how to make my father bend to his will.
Our other cat is a feral tortoise shell. She was caught at three days old along with two of her brothers and was being raised at the same shelter the tabby came from. We got I wanted a kitten and I've never seen a tortoise shell before. She's a sweetheart towards women she knows well and oh so dainty, but she isn't interesting. She is afraid of everything due to her being feral. She also has digestive problems. :C
Our dog is a black lab. Pure bred. Show line. Also from Japan. His original owner gave him away because he and his wife were unable to take care of him especially with a new baby. We got him a 7-8 months old. He is now over two years old. He has "personality" which is something you say when your dog isn't very well trained, but we love him. He's a huge dork, and it melts your heart. He also has a natural talent of pointing, but he only ever points at things he deems interesting, namely poop.

I have a doggy. I have a white husky. His name is Rune.
The story with this guy... I had a border collie called Roly for 13 years. He passed away due to liver cancer. This is Roly (well...was)

He was a cutie, right? But yeah, we weren't sure if we wanted another dog after him, but the house just felt so empty. My mother is housebound more or less due to fibromyalgia and she really needed a companion, so we went off to a dogs home.
We saw a lovely husky, but we were told he was... to put it politely... completely, certifiably, insane. So we kind of... left him. We gave up our search, but I remembered another dogs home that Roly had once been taken to when he escaped. I checked their opening times on my phone and they were still open. Off we went.
I was looking at some little cuties and my mother shouted me. I went over and saw this blur in the cage.

I had to have him. His name was Ice at the time. We didn't like that. We got him home in the car.

And he settled in extremely quickly.

And now he's ours and he's very happy with us. Meet Rune, almost a year later.

I love reading about your pets
To Geisha89 (didn't want to quote your entire post)
I'm so sorry about your dog Roly, we currently have a Border Collie as well (well, she's not mine really, but yeah I consider her as mine, it's complicated) and she's already 11 yo, I'm so scared of losing her, as you can see her age day by day, she gets more stiff when she gets up in the morning, when we go for a walk she gets tired so easily, a couple of years ago she was unstoppable. The vet told us she only has maybe 2 years left bc she's pure blood and they aren't that strong, it's so hard.
It was very heartwarming to hear about your husky, I've read so many stories about dogs that were given up and then adopted to turn out to be the sweetest and most caring dogs in the world! I'm very glad you gave him a second chance and it all worked out

And I didn't even mention the drug dealers that used to own him! Haha.
Yeah, I'd keep a close eye on your border collie. Not to scare you, but I've heard that liver cancer is a common cause of death for them.
I wish your dog many many more years of happy life.
