Anyone notice how dumb she is?

i enjoy watching Blair's older videos more since they are ACTUAL youtube videos/vlogs and not fake and sponsored.
Anywhoo I was watching "Name My Vlogs" and starting around 3:40 this girl says one of the most idiotic things I've ever heard.

I know she was 16 here but come on are you kidding?! 2 degrees is not 30 degrees!!!
And it's like this in so many videos...mainly the older ones. Like don't even get me started with the "Ozone layer" thing.
And the worst part is she seems to play it up for the videos...if she is that stupid in real life then I fear for her...this girl is living on her own and is planning to go to "college" hmm I'm not sure and that's a huge mistake since YouTube beauty won't last forever, sweetie, and isn't a life skill.

But hey, at least she's not talking incoherently at 100 mph here.

Yeah she's not a sharp cookie. In a recent post on her site she says that her dad is "like, genius level" smart and I couldn't help but thinking "and he produced you and your sister!? He must be so dissapointed!". That's mean of me to think, I know, but if he is as smart as she says that would be really dissapointing.

Elle and Blair can't be as dumb as they act in their videos, I feel like a lot of it is an act. They are too shady too be so stupid.

In her defense, I can see how she assumed "2 below" meant 30 if she was converting from celsius to fahrenheit. 0°C IS 32°F, and a lot of people who aren't familiar with the way conversion works might assume that you simply add 30° to celsius measurements to get fahrenheit. But the way she harps on these things after she discovers that she's wrong as if it's REALLY that confusing kind of makes me wonder. I do think it's partially an act (more so now, like when she made a huge deal out of connecting "burst a move" to "bust a move," as if that's some kind of brilliant connection the company didn't expect people to see), but she definitely doesn't seem "book smart."

That said, as a teacher, I don't think her "shady" behavior necessarily means this is all an act. It's possible to be skilled at what she does and not have a lot of sense when it comes to anything else. Depending on where she grew up and the school system there, it's also not surprising to me that she doesn't seem to "get" some very basic topics that she should've covered in school by now - but regardless, EVERYONE (regardless of their schooling) tends to have more focused intelligence in certain areas. Not every brilliant author did well in math class, not every scientist can write a decent paper, and not every makeup "guru" can... uh... convert celsius to fahrenheit or whatever else. I happen to think her area of "expertise" is frivolous and that our capitalist society is all kinds of messed up to reward people like her for the way she advertises free merchandise, but I have more of a problem with the system than I do her. That's why, depsite the fact that I do watch her videos and agree with a lot of the things said about her, all the anger people channel towards her and other gurus seems pointless to me. She's just taking a part in what major companies do all the time: rip people off for profit. She's just another privileged white girl from Tennessee who wants to be ~glamorous~ and make lots of money... people act like she invented freakin' capitalism or something...

i think elle and blair are like those dumb-smart people. they're dumb in everyday situations, but when it comes to school and memorizing facts and putting in an effort, they're smart. i can tell because blair said she was on the honor roll and got straight a's once, and elle was doing law or something before she quit for youtube, right?

I wouldn't consider Blair "school smart". Her grammar sucks. No offense, but the public schools in Tennessee aren't known for being very good. Have you noticed she'll say things like "Put this OVER TOP of this" or "Any stuff like that". Those are things I'd expect out of the three year old I babysit lol. She's just not intelligent. Have you also noticed her speech impediment? She says her "L"s in the back of her throat and it drives me insane!!! I don't know why it bothers me so much.... She'll say things like "I GHove this product" using the back of her throat instead of her tongue.

This is probably just from her accent, but it also drives me crazy when she says anything with an E as an I. For example: Ten becomes Tin, Men becomes Min. That sort of thing Elle does it too.

Oddly enough, one of my friend's husbands can't really read clocks. It takes him like two minutes to figure out the time as he tries to remember which hand is the little hand. Even odder, he's incredibly smart despite the clock thing. His parents just never thought it was important or something.

well, to be fair, i'm nineteen and i can't read a clock that well either. it takes me a little while. it's not that i'm stupid, i'm just so used to digital clocks that reading an analog one takes me a minute or two.
i definitely don't think she's stupid. she's just young. i mean, did you not go to school with any girls who pretended be be dumb and ditzy so that boys would think they were cute? i think it's that sort of situation happening.

She seems like a air head in her former videos.

That's sad she can't red a analog clock. I learned that shit in 5th grade and I'm younger than her so that means she probably learned too. I hate how she finds ways to be dumb and ditsy and think it's cute.

She is right that 0 degrees CELSIUS is the same as 32 degrees Farenheit. I just dont think she has the best language skills or the ability to articulate her thoughts. However her thinking that when someone says 2 degrees in the states was talking about celsius was kinds dumb, and to go on by saying that would be 30 degrees is even worse. How does that even logically make sence if she knows that 0 C and 32 F can be used as reference points. That while section of the video is just odd.

actually... Elle said in one of her older videos that after graduating from college, she's going to take a year break to focus on other plans in her life. Then she's going to decide, after her break, what she's going to do with her life; go to law school or whatever. She's on her break right now. So please, before you trash elle, get your damn facts right. She's did NOT quit for YouTube.

WOW!!! she is sooo incredibly different in her old videos. I actually discovered Blair from watching Elle's early videos, and back when I started watching Blair she only had made 2 videos so far. I used to love watching her, and now I can't stand the girl. Blair used to be so adorable and real...now she looks fake and has lost her accent and edits out all her genuinely funny parts.

I miss the way she used to be. It's eerie to watch that video because it's like two completely different people. Blair can say all she wants how she can go back to being the "old Blair", but she can't. She made the wrong turn on that road a long time ago, and she can't turn back. It's like this girl is sinking faster and faster in quicksand AKA losing ever last remain of what she used to be. Sad but true.

I totally understand what she's saying. Haha, I know that's terrible but I do. That always confuses me, too. Except, I'd think that 2 degrees is actually 34 degrees. Idk, having two systems confuses me. And trust me, I'm not "dumb". I'm number one in my class. I just hate math. (: However, Blair is DEFINITELY not bright... except in lying...

... It's not really math. What you have is not a problem if converting it incorrectly, it's a problem of not realizing they're different systems and 1 degree from each are not equal to each other. Difficult to explain exactly. And with the education system of today, being top in the class isn't very hard. It's not really something I'd recommend putting on a resume to prove your intelligence.
