Your opinion on my surgery?

Post  owl on Mon 21 Feb - 21:14

So here it goes:
I'm having breast reduction surgery on March 31st. I was not planning on telling my subscribers on my yt channel and just letting it go, because I think I would get a lot of a negative feedback because of my age (17, 18 on May 7).
However, after seeing MakeupGeek and how everyone was so supportive, I'm thinking of changing my mind and telling my subscribers.
I'm not having this surgery just because I want to or for cosmetic reasons. I've had major back problems since middle school and a lot of emotional distress. From frequent mental breakdowns, to my boyfriend punching holes in walls from disgusting comments from strangers, I've had a really tough time. My parents, friends, and family are 100% supportive because they know what I've been through.
And no, I'm not fat with huge boobs from no exercise or laziness. I'm short (5'4"), very skinny, size 32DDD (sometimes E). It sucks because my boobs are not what people consider "sexy." I'm disproportioned and weird looking because of it.
And, not to mention, I'm in ballet, where boobs seriously hinder you.
So this is pretty much it. I have a lot of reasons for the surgery to where everyone, including my parents, know it will give me a better life.
What I DON'T want is people saying, "Love yourself," because that's not possible, trust me.
And one last thought, insurance approved my surgery after having a doctors evaluation and SUGGESTION that I have the surgery. So yes, this is not just for cosmetic reasons, but mostly for physical and emotional issues.

Basically, what I want, is your guys's opinion on whether I should share this with my youtube family.
Thanks Smile

I think that you'll get way more support than negative feedback. However, you WILL get negative feedback. Just make sure you can handle criticism form people who don't know your life.
Honestly, I think it's a good thing to share. Younger teens so often want to be larger chested, but don't really know what goes with it. This is a very positive story, in my opinion.

well i think you shouldnt be afraid of telling them, but can i just urge you to really think about this. i mean, you may have a large bust (u lucky thing!) but dont forget you're still soooo young! i didnt lose my puppy fat until i was 20 when i dropped to a size 2, literally within a year. so although i understand you may be in pain and other things, you have to really make sure that you are not going to regret this later. your body is still changing and you may end up with the perfect balanced figure in a few years time! you're blessed to have a great rack lol and as i said, it might all balance out. please dont rush this. marlena is much older and more developed than you are. time heals all.

in the mean time, get yourself a custom made bra to offer you the best support for your back.

i hope this helped, please dont rush this decision.

Tictac is right, you should wait at least until you`re 19 or 20, because your body is still developing. However, this is a medical issue, and you can get scoliosis (i think that`s how you spell it), and your brests can severely damage your spine. My opinion- don`t do it because of the others, do it because of yourself. If it will make you feel better, both physically and mentally, go ahead, but don`t do it because of ugly comments and snide remarks, you would get those even if you were gorgeous.

It sounds as if you've already firmly made up your mind about the surgery, so I wont comment about that.

Your subscribers are going to notice, so unless you want to do an Elle and Blair you're gonna be mentioning it sometime. I too think this is a positive story- you'll also be showing girls that big boobs aren't everything. I think it will be beneficial to you and your subbies and you are going to get more support than you are negative feedback. Plus if you do get negative feedback, then I can be a minion for you and put them in their place Laughing Wink

I really hope the surgery goes well <3

I agree, it would be stupid for me to ignore it like other youtubers do. And yeah, I have firmly made up my mind, so there's no going back!
You guys are great <3

I just watched a few of your videos to see what you mean.. but I actually didn't find that they were that big! Just my opinion there.. it could be the clothes, lighting, camera quality, etc.. so only you could tell!
I do think you should tell subscribers.. share the experience and just be honest about it. It's for a serious issue and they could really learn from it..how it was like, side effects, how you feel after, and so on.
Good luck with the surgery! Let us know how it all goes!

I dunno I wouldn't - Just because to me it is something private & I personally would not want people all into my business. But really in the end it is up to you what you do & whatever you chose I wish you the best. :-)

tell them, when ur gonna be the 1# guru on youtube u wont want ppl on guru gossip talkin about ur plastic surgery the way they talk about blair & elle's.
just kiddin now seriously you should tell them. why? because it's a beautiful thing for YOU - because this is the start of your new life and because after this u'll be much happier& u'll have more confidence so you should share this with ur subscribers. but also tell them why - cuz i guess u already know there are gonna be some idiots talking shit too.
i wish u the best =]

That's not completely true.

Breastfeeding after breast and nipple surgeries
Here's a snippet from http://bfar.org/faq.shtml#possible

Q Is it possible to breastfeed after breast or nipple surgery?

A Yes! Depending upon the type of surgery that was performed, most women can produce some amount of milk. Every drop is greatly beneficial for your baby.

Breast reduction surgery tends to affect lactation capability the most, although augmentation, lift, diagnostic, and nipple surgeries also can reduce the amount of milk a mother can make.
