How you know you've won a debate(argument) on the Internet.
#1 Your opponent resorts to cursing & yelling
#2 Your opponent resorts to insults
#3 Your opponent argues things that don't pertain to the subject matter
#4 Your opponent ignores vital statements in your argument
Hmmm, that's all I can think of for now... anyone else have something to add?
I just think it's funny how when you argue with someone online they often end up making themselves look stupid by resorting to cursing and insults when they're losing the argument lol I tend to see a lot of guest doing that on this site...

#5 Your opponent insists that they "Do not care" about your opinion and are only arguing "for the fun of it".
#6 Your opponent says something along the lines of "I have more to say about that, but I have a LIFE and have to go." They rarely ever return.

I stick to my guns until the opponent gets to annoyed to keep responding, so I can never tell if I've actually won.
This happens in real life too, much to the chagrin of my closest friends and family.Their method of debate with me is "You're right, Nadia. You're right," and walking away while I'm still pontificating. So I could say I've won, but really I think I've just wearing the other person down to the point of exhaustion.

I'd say if your opponent has veered into Godwin's Law territory, then you've won.

I have to disagree with this to some point. Obviously I don't think it's a big deal if someone spells one or two words wrong, unless that person is calling others dumb. If you're calling out someones intelligence in any way and yet are misspelling words yourself, then you look foolish. When it comes to a point that someone isn't putting any thought into what they're writing, it's hard to take that person serious in an argument.

nah, that's fair. i see where you're coming from. in my experience, most debates are less about calling someone dumb and more on the topic at hand (basically stricter sites than this one lol) and whenever people start pulling the spelling card it's when they've ran out of other options. but when someone is presenting themselves as careless/stupid with spelling etc, it's hard to have a reasonable argument
