How come she can put music in her videos???
I read the YT rules and it says you can't be a partner if you put the music that's not yours or not the music that they allowed(like a lot of beauty gurus use iMovie/GarageBand music and that's because it is allowed, so there's no copyright issues).
But Megan always put lot of song/music in her videos from other musicians!!! Like she have Taylor swift/Jesse Mccartney/Dido/Cascada/Ron Pope/and many other musician's songs in her videos too!!!
Can someone ask YT about it or report it to YT? There're lot of beauty gurus have to follow the YT rules, but Megan don't have to???
Here's the YT rules:
Respect copyright. Only upload videos that you made or that you are authorized to use. This means don't upload videos you didn't make, or use content in your videos that someone else owns the copyright to, such as music tracks, snippets of copyrighted programs, or videos made by other users, without necessary authorizations. Read our Copyright Tips for more information.
How can she break the rules but become YT partner?
Can someone explain it to me please?

I would like to know the same thing. Apparently the spoiled brat thinks she is entitled to do whatever she wants such as posting personal info, attacking random girls who speak the truth, ect.

Michelle Phan also does it in some videos with Final Fantasy music. Most recently her video Clean & Simple was based on a BoA song but I mentioned here at GG she can't use the song due to copyright and sure enough she mentioned in her comments she couldn't use it because of copyright.
I posted over in the Michelle Phan forum a link to Youtube where you can contact them with comments/concerns. It's not a form typically used for that purpose but it's really the only form they have to actually tell them something other than flagging a video.

megan isnt the most popular guru, so youtueb dosent pay as much attention to ehr as they would to someone like nigahiga, or michelle phan. and the people who take action for copyright wouldnt pay much attention to her sinceshes not popular. but if they see someone big like bubzbeauty do it, then they will take action because she is more popular andm ore notice able. megans videos dont stand out so its kinda harder for copyright action to be taken since shes not getting as much attention as others are.

It's probably because no one important has actually noticed it and took action on it.
But she'll probably slip up and get caught someday.

I think someone should really take action now, it's obvious what Megan did isn't right, other gurus have to follow the rules, but Megan just doesn't have to, she can do whatever she wants, right?

Re: She avoids the FTC guidelines in the sidebar..
the only person that can report it for copyright is the label itself. she may be getting away with it now but she's completely screwed if the record labels become aware of it. i think if you get 3 copyright claims, your account goes into automatic suspension. and i think if you're partnered, your adsense gets revoked. i suppose if enough people actually contacted/emailed the record labels with specific links to the videos with the names of the songs and artist, that would do it. i don't care enough to do it though.

Re: She avoids the FTC guidelines in the sidebar..
yeah, megan could lose her partnership if she dosent remove the music. nigahigas accountgot suspended only for a day because of all the copyright stuff. they gave him a warning that he could lose his partnership and account so he deleted anything with copyrighted music. all of this happened when he became very popular. if megan gets very popular then she is going to be in a lot of trouble since her videos have alooot of music

It has no words it's just the song and i believe that is okay. Artist use other Artist beats because it isn't copyright

A lot of her videos are actual songs...I'm not sure what you're talking about exactly.

She avoids the FTC guidelines in the sidebar..
In her January Favorites in the sidebar she said "FTC: I bought everything! Wanted to just let you know that.. because I was raving so much about the foundation!
"
It's not about you wanting to let your viewers know if you bought the product or not. You are required to anyways.. breaking the rules much? I heard you could report a person for that.. but eh, who would have the energy to go that far?
One person in the comments also pointed this out to her but she was so confused and was like "what?? what ftc???" Funny how clueless she is.
And in her leather boots video or whatever, she listed some prices of some boots (which were like 250 bucks) and didn't even list the FTC for that. That just led me to believe right there that she probably got them for free and doesn't want to reveal that she did. Even Blair and Elle follow the rules... smh

Re: She avoids the FTC guidelines in the sidebar..
Yeah! After YT has the rules of FTC, in lots of her videos she didn't even type the FTC in the sidebar or anything!!!
I thought YouTube says that's not allowed??? And people can report her to YT about it.
But I guess Megan don't have to follow the rules, cause she put lots of music in her videos too, and that's not allowed.
She can always do whatever she wants, right?

The FTC needs to get off their lazy asses and do something about these stupid gurus. I'm so sick of them getting free passes to just break the damn law.

Re: She avoids the FTC guidelines in the sidebar..
I agree.. she uses copyright songs in practically all her videos without even having the decency to write the artist and title of the song. Under each video, the comments are usually "omgg megan i love that songgg.. what is it??" "which song is thatt?" and she doesn't answer them.. it's usually other subscribers that need to research and post the title.

You don't have to mention FTC unless you got it for free or is getting compensation for the video.

I thought even if you didn't get compensated, you still have to include an ftc? Most of Megan's video's just say "
" in the down bar..? lol please enlighten me ://

I hate to be snappy, but think about it..FTC is a branch of government, its not going to make people put a FTC disclaimer unless they did something under their code.
also, people on this forum seem to think everyone needs a FTC disclaimer. That is false. It is only for USA and for people who where sent a product for free/affiliated.

Maybe Megan doesn't feature products she was sent.
? I haven't seen many reviews by her, so maybe she doesn't think she needs a disclaimer. Just a though

I hate rules and guidelines. We have enough of them in real life -- laws, rules, blah blah blah.
Youtube was better 4-5 years ago, when none of this bullshit was there.
I mean seriously a rule having to say if you bought a product by yourself or was sponsored. It's just UGH. Why do people feel the need to have to KNOW everything? It's just so annoying.

I think if there's no FLC rules... if a beauty guru raved about a product, people won't know if she really like this product or she's just promoting it like a commercial.

i think the ftc is more about the company wanting to make sure that the person is actually going through with the sponsor.

Most gurus don't post a FTC disclaimer, not just Megan. I'm not a big fan of hers but it's not like shes the only one. Comeon.
