Simple and Clean [Discussion]

I think she's being over dramatic about posing in this video, and I think this is the first video i've seen of her where she doesnt scrunch up her nose. Surprising. But yet, she constantly try to look pretty even though her face looks unattractive without all the makeup. It even comes to a point where her "posing" is ugly LMAO

Btw, at 3:42, she obviously lined her lips without saying. I dont think this is a very "Clean" look because when it gets close to her face it looks cakey to me. I think she just shouldve put a tinted moisturizer and some concealer and set it with a loose powder. Also she says to use a little bit of powder but she put so much on her brush that it flew everywhere. .. FAKE LASHES? EYEBROW FILL? This isn't clean nor natural. The constant blur of the video hurts my eyes.

She need to teach these young ones that the green concealer would help that red on the side of her nose.

Also she need to go down her neck with that bright face after that makeup

But the posing was well done. Not too much this time she is learning.
For a character it is necessary.
Still her line in music is such a straight and narrow line.
And yes her makeup looks powdered on not really natural

Yeah she got a lot of negative feedback for using a butt-load of highlighter all over her face.

Michelle still seems to think that no look is complete without a full mask of foundation and powder.

I actually liked this tutorial. I felt like Michelle wasn't being fake. She wasn't smiling a whole bunch and being too posey at the camera, the makeup was nice and even ( though simple ) on both sides, aside from her cheeks. I think her blush was uneven, however I could be wrong. There was light coming in from the right side.

I don't know. I really liked the way she looked at the beginning and to say she looked ugly without make up on is stupid. I don't think I've ever seen anybody who looks hot to trot without make up on. That's what make up is for, to improve your natural beauty.

Her voice was nice and soft, she had pleasant music going, she wasn't fake, she looked healthy and so did her skin. I don't have anything to trash about this video. I liked it. I think she did a good job.

I agree actually. No one does. I was stating that even without the makeup she still attempts to look cute. I'm a full on hater, what can I say... She's a liar, a fake, and shes really immature, so I dont think she deserves any soft feelings from me. I'm going to be harsh as much as I want to be because she attempts to appear better than she really is.

Let's face it: she is actually fortunate enough to be very pretty and even without makeup she looks better than most people. This is especially true in her earlier days. That is a huge reason why she got famous. He techniques have never been great. She didn't have as much many videos as other gurus. She's not exactly innovative. She doesn't give things to her subscribers. Yet she's one of the most successful youtube gurus, if not the most successful. Clearly, people like the way she looks, and she knows it. There is a reason why she got started and other gurus didn't.

I personally used to watch her, because I like her editing of the video better (the mumbling long style a lot other gurus use are just so boring) and I like the music she uses. And frankly, between her and some other gurus, I chose to watch her because she's prettier.

Now I think her looks have deteriorated quite a bit since 2009. She looks rather tired most days and not so "fresh" anymore. Hence the full make-up and photoshopping in every video. Looks will only serve you so far, and honestly, nowadays most gurus are pretty enough.

Her foundation still does not match.

I don't know as much about makeup as many other people but I thought the look was okay until MP decided to dot her face with that light eyeshadow. It looked like, to quote someone's avatar, the bitch couldn't blend.

I COMPLETELY agree. She did horrible

I didn't love or hate the tutorial, but I definitely felt that her cheeks were uneven. One side had so much more than the other.
I liked her better before I started coming here and reading about her (not that I hate her now, but now I actually notice these things).

Did anyone else notice she didn't use her soft, whisper porno voice this time? She actually sounded enthused to be doing this video for once.
Either way, though some people trash its simplicity, this was actually pretty decend. I could go for this makeup, minus the fake lashes.

If you go to the 0:43-0:45 mark she has that "why the eff am i doing this" look

Despite how simple it was, not to mention being a recycled idea, I thought it was nice - aside from the fact she looked greasy and the blush was way too much. If she had done those two parts differently, it would have been decent enough.

this is korean make up. almost straight brows, flawless skin, almost everything, minus the nasty looking blush & lil' brow shadow crease.

Michelle isn't naturally beautiful, especially her skintone isn't bright. Her natural lips color is so dark, I wish she didn't do that to her nose, even her natural nose was bigger but it looked natural and so much better than how she got the scars around her nose now,tho.

I really like xteeener,her makeup looks so natural and classy, she doesn't cakeup her face and she really knows how to contour.

Well, back in 2007 and 2008, Michelle was actually quite beautiful. I don't think she got surgeries then (I'm not even so sure about now). There was a huge reason when she got noticed. Back then the big fish in the pond was that woman who got a Sephora line; Michelle was just another girl on youtube.
That was when she got famous. In 2009 she already was famous and everything deteriorated. Regardless, even with her looks now, she's still prettier than most ordinary people. Most gurus are prettier than everyday people. That's a big reason why these people choose to show their faces in beauty tutorials.

I like xteeener as well. She seems very genuine and sweet. I like her fashion sense a lot too. One thing I have to pick on her is that most of her looks are the same just with different eye-shadow colors. But you can clearly see how xteeener improved over the years. Her techniques are so much more polished and cleaner now than when she first started.

Korean make-up looks have much bushier brows than what she has. The whole point of Korean make up is to look like you don't have make-up on when you caked your face with huge amount of make-ups. MP's video this time is just a general style popular in Asia. Let's not jump in and call everything "Korean".

She didn't set her liquid blush. She just ran a powderless brush over it to blend. It'd be gone in a couple of hours.

she uses her finger to highlight which deposits WAY too much product onto her skin. a fluffy brush should be used

this just had the feeling of a commercial. I was waiting for a pantyliner or a toothpaste tube to be shown at any second.

and maybe it is just me but I really dislike when she 'lists things off'. she tries to sound like she's listing something off the top of her head but it just comes. off. so. fake. and. even. more. scripted.

I admit, when I was a fan, I think I was drawn to her videos for the same reason. "Ooh, she's pretty!" The same reason so many bad popstars become popular; Can they sing? Not really? But they make great eye candy. She's the Britney Spears of Youtube.

I do have to disagree with you on this. I came from the suburban South part of Vietnam and where I lived, women there are beautiful in a very natural way that Michelle (without makeups) would be consider "not so attractive". Remember she always have those droopy eyes that didn't show very well in her old videos. (To be honest, I was shocked because she looked horrible in Simple and Clean, like seriously)
One of the reasons Michelle were famous because she is one of the first YT gurus (even she admitted in her interview), 2nd reason is that the editing of her videos seems clean and professional. I believe that her beauty had little contribution to her success.
Plus, nowsaday, there are much better looking gurus on Youtube.

I noticed that she didn't use any of her IQQU products in this video (I do miss the red kabuki brush of hers for some reason) and it also shows how much has changed from her Simple Makeup Tutorials of how many years ago. Her face does look whiter than usual. (Mix of a compliment and insult)
