anyone else find it gross that she is selling her "gently" used makeup

I think in general it is disgusting to sell used makeup. I love Makeupalley, but I would never swap makeup. Ewwww. What if some chick had herpes and was swapping a lipstick with you?

i left a comment saying "does anyone else find this gross" and she replied to it saying

"No, I don't and I've swapped for used makeup numerous times on Makeupalley. If the product is sanitized, whether or not it's used is irrelevant. I suppose it's just a personal preference."

she was selling stila lipglazes how do you sanitize those....

I've been on MakeupAlley and did over 100 swaps and there are TONS of people that will NOT swap for used lipgloss or mascara.
Forget it.
Most people know you can cut off the end of lipstick etc..and it's not that easy to swap your used drugstore makeup on there either.

Ughh..it just doesn't sit well with me. I'm glad you can swap with no problems but I still worry about where the product has been.

You really can't sanitize those lip glosses. It's gross that she put those up.

I think its disgusting to buy/sell used makeup. Eyeliner is sometimes applied on the waterline, EWW. Not everyone washes their hands after using the bathroom and people always use their fingers to touch their eyeshadows, EWW. Lipstick/Liner/Gloss, um, I'm not even going to comment on where mouths can be!! It's just f*king gross in my opinion. Tacky as hell especially for someone who got half the shit for free.

Yeah it is kind of gross...I mean there IS a reason makeup artists are so careful with not touching makeup that is going on a client with their hands ya know? I do like swapping nail polishes though. germs can't live in those chemicals.

Ummm why would anyone would want to buy used makeup ? that's freakin' disgusting and unsanitary ! what really boggles my mind is that she's got all that makeup and never wears any. I know she swatches them with her fingers, but how do we really know if she scratched her butt or va jay jay before she spends hours of getting all glammed up for camera ? then uses the same finger to swatch them for her channel ? eww just the thought of it makes me cringe. I would much rather buy it new and spend the extra bucks making sure i'm not getting HSV-1 OR 2 on my lips haha no gracias por me

I do agree. It's not worth it to buy used makeup. I won't even let my best friend touch my makeup or use hers, just no. I know she is a clean person and what not but there is NO need to spread the germs around ok. Keep it to yourself.

I also think selling the makeup just shows how fucking cheap you are. You spend hundreds maybe thousands of dollars on makeup and realize how wasteful you have been and try to make it right by selling it again? Just ew. Ew. That's tacky as hell. You might as well get a perm and wear a gold jumpsuit.

Exactly ...the whole perm and jumpsuit deal is true..very tacky, not to mention cheap. What's really the whole point of getting all of that makeup and then selling it to people ? anyways i really don't watch or know too much about her , but does she buy these products herself ? and or they given to her to review ? i'm sure she gets some kind of compensation from youtube or these makeup companies and then has the nerve to sell it ''semi swatched'' to people ? i've already when off on a tangent on that one lol.

This is my experience. Also, I think some people are underestimating the power of alcohol.

I swap on Makeup Alley all the time and things like lipstick, eyeshadow, blush, and squeeze-tube lipgloss can easily be sanitized with alcohol. however, mascara and wand lipglosses cannot be, so those are things that I will neither add to my swap list nor accept in a swap.

It makes you think how she could possibly review a product that she has "gently used once". Theres no way you can give an indepth, honest, imformative review on a product you have basically swatched once!! You can give a first impression but not a proper review. She swaps most of her makeup on makeupalley after she reviews which makes me think she really doesnt know what shes talking about.

That's beyond gross. This is why I never do swaps or online sales. Even if it's been sanitized or only used once as a swatch. That's still gross, I bet she's trying to give someone a cold sore or something.

Couldn't agree more! It's beyond gross and unsanitary. That's why I don't do swaps on makeupalley.com or buy used makeup from blog sales. I would rather save up and buy a brand new product then getting someone else's left-overs. I guess she has a reason for selling her makeup though. - SHE DOESN'T USE IT ALL. The most makeup I've seen her wear in a video is: pink lipgloss and neutral shadow.

I agree, you can swap for certain items in a sanitary manner. I swap for primers, foundatons, blushes, powders and eyeshadows. These things can easily be sanitised. I agree however that it is super tacky of her to be SELLING this FREE makeup she has.
