Our makeup collections?

I dont know if anyone else ever does this, but after buying yet more mac eyeshadows yesterday and realising that my pallet was totally full, i just did a quick mental arithmetic of how much all my eyeshadows were worth and nearly fainted... lol i dread to think about how much money i have spent on the rest of my makeup as well...

has anyone else ever done this and what are your makeup storages like? What do you tend to collect the most?
I tend to spend most my money on eyeshadows and only have 1 foundation (which i rarely wear) and a few bronzers and blushes. I also have a quite a few lipsticks and glosses even though i rarely wear them... i just seem to like buying them :s

has anyone else actually calculated their makeup collection's worth? just be interested to see if I am alone in this or not... haha

I don't have that much high end makeup but when I think of how much it all cost I could faint. But most of it I get on birthdays and such so I guess that makes it seem not so bad.

Omg... you have guts for doing that... if added up all the cost of my makeup i would start crying....
seriously..

i store my makeup in a thing like the clear cube..but its a different one from a different company for a better price...like $50 instead of $300.

i love pallets omg....... i dunno why but i do especially if they are cute too

and blushes and bronzers for contouring i have too many too count

and something with lip balms too i dont know why but i have tons laying around

and brushes too because i dont like to clean them very often

and cleansers i dont know why either but i have tons and use them all...


oh god i have to stop now!! LOL

I actually have more eyeshadows than I will ever have eyes to put it on. I should be ashamed of the ammount of makeup I own, but I justify it because I am a freelance MUA... That is still no excuse! I just realized That I have never hit pan on a blush or eyeshadow. OMG... I have a sickness. Cause I am heading out the door to go to the CCO as I type. For some reason I feel I need more MAC, not that I actually use it all that much, but I gotta get some more. I should take pictures of my collection and post it so you guys can shame me out of buying anymore for a while... LOL

i know what is it with makeup??! it's like it's more fun shopping for it and collecting it rather than even using it (i have so much that i never use)
but i know what you mean about MAC. wish we had a CCO in England, everything i buy is full price and it stings when i go to the counter and spend like £30 on 3 eyeshadows. why do i do this to myself? i work hard for my money then i go and blow it on stuff i dont even need.

i even bought a drugstore eyeshadow palette from sleek because it had a colour exactly like cranberry eyeshadow from MAC. was i satisfied with that? no, i had to go and buy the MAC one anyway even though the colour is practically identical... aghhh!

but yeh i'm not brave enough to calculate all my makeup, just my MAC eyeshadows was bad enough :'( i feel sick thinking about it actually lol

yes hisgirl1, def show us your makeup! i think it's more acceptable if you are an MUA, as technically you need variety for your clients sorry, i was meant to make u feel bad about it wasnt i? i think you've picked the wrong crowd for that haha!

My makeup collection is quite small compared to the major "youtube makeup gurus" loll so I don't feel that ashamed of myself. I'm trying not to buy any more eyeshadows..since I have about 120 of them! I collect mostly eyeshadows and lipglosses. I've just started with lipsticks..so I only have about 5 of those.
My last eyeshadow purchase was the Naked Pallette by Urban Decay, because I had none of their eyeshadows and wanted to try them.. so what better way than buying their popular naked pallette?
Does anybody else hate makeup bags? I think they're good to travel with, but at home I prefer a plastic little storage box with drawers. It's so much more organized and I don't have to search through the whole thing.

oh my god! i LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE makeup bags to answer your questions. i store my makeup in acrylic type of drawers..i REALLY hate the plastic things.

but i love pretty makeup bags... like its so stupid they get dirty anyway and who cares but i cant help myself.

My makeup collection isn't too bad lol

I have 4 or 5 mac eyeshadows and some random eyeshadows from other brands

I prefer palettes, I just bought the naked one too so I don't need any more neutral shades for a while...

But I am obsessed with blush it is seriously unhealthy. I already have naturally rosey cheeks but ahhh I can't help myself

I like colorful eyeliners Mostly from UD because they stay all day and have unique colors :O) Haha I sound like i'm 12 lol

I also <3 foundations...idk why but my goal in life is to find the perfect foundation for my sucky dry skin

Oh and also I love makeup brushes, they make me feel more professional

Hey dont know where you are in england but i live up in the north east and York Designer Outlet has a CCO with..... MAC! haha i spent a fortune in there

I have a lot of makeup but not nearly as much as some of these YT women and very little of it is high end. I think I collect the most in lipstick and foundation, but my eyeshadow collection is starting to catch up ever since I started watching all these YT tutorials. If I really like the tutorial, I will go out and get at least a cheapie version of an eyeshadow color if I don't already have something similar, though a lot of times it's Wet N Wild so that's not too bad. I don't have a MAC anywhere near me so that has probably saved me from obsessing about getting the exact MAC shade being shown.

I dunno, I have more makeup than the average woman, but less than the "gurus".

Well, for mr to show you guys my makeup, tic tac, I would have to register... I attempted that once, and listed the wrong email address... I am hopeless with that stuff! I guess I will try again since I am always on this site anyway!
My CCO trip didn't happen, maybe next week. I had a ton of homework.
I usually spend about $150 when I go there, but it is much better than if I make a trip to Ulta or Sephoria... I usually hand over my card, ask them not to tell me the total, put my head down in shame, and wonder what the hell am I thinking to spend this much $ on makeup... It is sad... Some months I spend what some people pay in rent on makeup.
Did I mention I have an illnesss? It's called too damn much makeup!!!

Im highly embarrased to say it was bloody youtube that got me into make up hoarding! my bedroom is now renamed - by my boyfriend and mum - as mini debenhams. I genuinley love shopping for make up, coming home with the goodies, playing with it all, then arranging it in little drawers according to what it is sad i know! Getting up and doing my make up on a morning is actually my favourite part of the day now my collections growing. The only thing i have one of is mascara because im a bit of a germ fanatic lmao!

It was me that wrote that before I go my account! Sorry They aren't that far from London are they? I have no concept of distance because I don't drive. I wish I lived nearer London I would die for a trip to Inglot!

My makeup collection has grown tremendously because of youtube. I used to have a small plastic thing with all my makeup in it. Then I started watching youtube and obsessing over MAC and once went there and spent over $150 dollars twice over like two weeks. I don't buy so much MAC anymore, I have their eyeshadows the most, and three of their brushes. I want more but they're too pricey. I've got quite a few benefit things too and a small makeup bag of just lipstick/lipgloss. So far my makeup collection fills two desk drawers, plus a plastic storage thing of stuff I don't use. I don't do my makeup everyday but I do enjoy just going through my stuff and looking at it. I have so many eyeshadows, it's like my favorite thing to buy even though I usually buy things in the same color range. It's a problem for sure. It makes me cringe to think about how much money I have invested.

My MAC collection is growing..I am not sure how much this would all be I bet its a ton...

I dont ask my mommy/daddy for money, I used to work all the time before I went to school. its not very hard to find yourself with a growing collection of MAC picking up things here and there..

I don't own any MAC, but here's my collection thus far:

10 Sally Girl eyeshadow pots (99c each)
1 Sally eyeshadow trio (also 99c on sale)
2 Real Colors baked eyeshadow palette (4.99 each with 6 colors in each palette)
6 E.L.F. eyeshadow colors that I got in a $2.00 set at Big Lots
Maybelline Falsies Mascara (5.25)
Maybelline Colossal Lashes Mascare (2.00 on sale at Rite Aid)
Almay mascara and eye pencil set (2.00 at Grocery Outlet)
JANE mineral blush (2.50)
and some other various stuff that I got at Christmas presents. I'm a cheap-o when it comes to makeup.

Haha, I'm like that with Japanese CDs.. I buy a few and then come to think of how much all my Jmusic is actually worth.. EEEEK, don't even wanna think about it.. >_<" MAN I'm a dedicated fan of jrock. lol

ANYWAY! I have no idea how much makeup I have. But I only have VERY few expensive items. And I got those as a gift.. We just recently got MAC nearby (50km. away, lol) but I'm sure my splurging for makeup will only get worse.. I DO love my NYX eyeshadows and blushes tho! I wanna try out elf studio blushes as well.. Tickled Pink and the something-Berry are so pretty!
