The Outfit of the Day

Post  Riley on 7th November 2010, 10:36 am

How do you all feel about the gurus who post their outfit of the day? I just don't really care, and I always feel like they're showing off a bit. JMHO. Not trying to be nasty. Just sayin'. silent

Yeah it gets pretty boring watching those videos but once in a while I do get inspiration for my own outfits...so I guess they're not completely useless. But if they're talking about the whole time of the designer name brands they wear then I just X the window Razz

They do those videos because they are requested, right?? I think they're stupid. I never watch OOTD or FOTD videos.

I don't mind them unless they give me a 20-minute backstory on each piece. T_T

i hate when people do outfit of the days. it seems like every guru is incapable of just showing you their outfit. "oh and i got this top from forever 21 there was a sale so i bought it and another shirt which you probably saw in x video when i was doing my blah blah blah." I really don't care about the history of your clothes. Just show me what you are wearing and GTFO.

I think it depends on how viewers feel about a certain guru's dressing sense and the length of time for each of these outfit of the day video! If it's a video that takes forever to ramble on about brands and designers, I will definitely unsubscribe without regrets. However, if the guru includes some good efficient tips or recommendations of the right clothes for some mix and match would matter more.

There are gurus who make outfit of the day videos as requested videos as apparently they heard that it helps viewers with mix and match. I would feel it's a good series of videos of a guru who has a good dressing sense and as well as the level of how appropriate it is to wear this and that for this party and this job interview...

I actually really like outfit of the days, gives me ideas sometimes and they're entertaining, honestly. BUT I do hate when they ramble on about a single item...that is annoying!

I can like them sometimes but I don't think most of these gurus have a clue when it comes to style and I'm not just saying that because they aren't exactly like me or have style like me, they just don't have a good fashion sense in general.

Also an outfit of the day video ends up being 15 min long! Like you guys have said they tell a back story to EVERYTHING or describe everything in so much detail like "and I'm wearing these boots from [wherever] and they're black and they lace up from the front right here [point to it] and they have a buckle right here [point] at the ankle and they also have a zipper right here so you don't have to do the laces and you can slip your foot right into here [unzip the boot, open it and point to the inside of the boot]. then I'm wearing [item]...." and then it starts all over again. Like no shit I can see the boot is black and has laces and a buckle I'm not fuckin blind, I don't need a detailed description on shit that is obvious I only need details on things the camera does not pick up such as if the lining to a coat is faux fur or if it has a removable hood not if a scarf has fringe at the end. like wtf?

OOTD

Post  AutumnGal on 23rd December 2010, 10:56 pm

I don't mind OOTDs, as long as they are short and sweet. Don't tell me the history of the shirt, jeans, shoes, etc. I hate when people ramble on and on and on about one item. Really. Do we need to know how to zip up a boot or something like that? Give basic details about what you are wearing and move on with the video. I'm not going to watch your OOTD if it's too long!

I don't want any outfit of the day. I'm not much of a stylish person and am hard to fit, so even if the outfit being shown was fantastic, I couldn't replicate it anyway. It can also be kind of hard to see on camera, especially if it is mostly or all composed of black or dark-colored items. I can't see the cut of your black jacket against your black shirt, dear! Evil or Very Mad I can skip those videos, but it's kind of disappointing to me that some of the "gurus" I have been watching have gone more toward clothes and away from makeup.

What I find annoying is when they point out details on their clothes/shoes that we can CLEARLY see...like "This is a BLACK jacket with a ZIP down the front...these boots are BROWN and have a SILVER buckle and a WIDE HEEL." We can see all of that already!!

I enjoy watching them sometimes, but I think it's pointless to do one if it's a boring, interchangable outfit (such a cardigan, jeans, and flats). They should only be filmed if it's a really cool outfit!

As long as the video is under 3 mins- its fine and i like to watch.

but if its over that time - i don't even bother watching, cause i know they are just gnna detail everything too much.

I was watching Blair's (juicystar07) OOTD and she showed some pricey stuff. Like I think it was True Religion jeans that can be like $100 or more for ONE pair. And she shows her Tiffany bracelets. Its just like showing off your stuff MOST OF THE TIME.

Plus I don't like how they explain stuff like 'oh and this is my hair and its straight today' girl we already know how your hair looks like no need to go into more detail.
