You can get Make Up Forever at MAP (make up artist provisions), TicTac. They are in W. London and also have a website you can order off of.

Can someone clarify what some pros/cons of some of these brands or why they like the brand? Kind of like mini-reviews =D
MAC eyeshadows (kind of limited, gets kind of boring). Good skin base make up, packaging, brushes.
Love Urban Decay (before Naked came out). Fun colors and highly pigmented. Favorites: sin and smog.
Benefit has good cream shadows. Love their bad girl mascara.
Love Dior because I love everything Dior (biased, sorry). Good lip gloss, shimmery shadows, packaging.
Chanel: flattering lipsticks, glosses.
Smashbox: like their primer.
Bobbi Brown: don't like their color tones.
Shiseido: love their foundation stick. Don't really care for their moisturizers (sticky). Heard sunblock is fantastic.
Cargo: Love their Blu-ray blush (disc.
) and lip gloss pan.
ShuUemura: my HG eyelash curler. I had to horde some when I heard they would no longer be available in the states.
Don't really know too much beyond that. Suggestions? Thanks!

Small First Steps
Can someone clarify what some pros/cons of some of these brands or why they like the brand? Kind of like mini-reviews =D
Lulu and tictac want to start the beauty buzz thread off small with a poll and then perhaps branch it out. With the wealth of information that must be here with all the girls and women interested in makeup and skin care I think it's a natural place to tap into that potential.
There are loads of topics to be thought of. As you say a review place. Places for age appropriate related products. Unless someone is shopping for a young teen and they are say 35 or 40 they won't want to use the same stuff. Places for products not necessarily on every vanity but ones that people have been curious about and work. Say for instance a person lists Latisse or Careprost as something they are curious about; another writer sees that and can cover that topic.
No blogs, vlogs or places that can get murky with advertisements or questionable sponsored remittance to the blogette. Five or ten minute faces with only HG items, and why those items are tops. There is such a wealth of info in all of this, but as there are few Admin and the tasks is huge, they will have to figure out what will and can work best here. I think people should submit their ideas and let Admin sort through it to see what they think is workable.
I see lots of cosmetic companies that people here are writing in that I've never heard of. It would be nice to read if that company's stuff is 'worth it' and why.

Re: What is your favourite high end make up brand?
Ah, I see. True there are a lot of products. I guess I was looking for a brief synopsis of what the companies are best known for and what they are known to be bad for? I've seen similar quick reviews on other pages, but they're really all over the place. Maybe for this poll, they can just write what they like most about the brand they're voting for?

Now, there's a good idea
OK right,
MAC: Great return policy via mail for online orders placed. Love the Prep+Prime SPF 50. Adore many lippies like Angel, Snob, Creme d' Nude, Syrup, Lavender Whip (discontinued), Shy Girl, Viva Glams, etc. Great color saturation, treats lips well as they are non drying and depending upon the formulas wear a decent length of time.
Urban Decay: Really like the 24/7 eye liners: They stay on a good long time for tightling too. Milani Liquif'eye, L'oreal Extra-Intense eyeliner and Revlon Colorstay Crayon eyeliner do well to for three drugstore brands. I know shoppers in the UK can't get Milani but must have their own great brands too that we in the US don't have.
Chanel: Quality of the lippies and eyeshadows. Pro Lumiere foundation for the ease of use and natural look.
Dior: DiorShow Mascara. I like the thick brush on this for volume but Loreal Voluminous is great as is Maybelline Full and Soft and Covergirl Lash Blast (these drugstore brands should go in the drugstore column but it's nice to also offer comparisons and dupes too.)
Nars: Fab eyeshadows
Laura Mercier: I depend on the Laura Mercier Mineral Powder for a quick no nonsense out the door.
Bobbi Brown: Lip gloss such as Rose sugar (bought in a CCO so may be discontinued) but is great paired with lipsticks in any rose color and has a brush which I prefer. Under eye moisturizer and the concealer kit.
This is just a quick take on things that popped to mind. I also like a few things like Hashmi Kajals (I know about the lead controversy) and Guerlain Terracota Kohl Kajals. So, as all the brands of the world can't be fit into a list that serves everyone. To my way of thinking if one were to give an example of the things they used on an average day, from moisturizer to powder that could serve a purpose of showing what that person's HGs were. As there was no space for LORAC etc. Most people in the world combine high and low end would be my guess and that would give a better idea of a FOTD (face of the day) and the products used. But it's early days yet and all that will take time and the format will shape itself.

Of those choices, I picked Urban Decay. I love the packaging and all the fun colors. MAC would be a close second.

Do they ship to other countries in Europe too?
My nearest Sephora does have Make Up Forever but only half of what they make. Also this Sephora is very messy, bottles are dusty and most often things are sold out and not replaced. I hate it when make up stores do that. I'd expect a little more quality from a shop that carries high end brands.

I voted Smashbox and Urban Decay, although I live in the UK and have never used these products. I think it's important to think about how they make these products, neither of the brands test on animals which is why I'm all for it!

Re: What is your favourite high end make up brand?
Here's a round-up of my favorite brands!
MAC:
I'm actually getting kind of tired of MAC (shocking, eh?). However, its lipsticks are my favorite! I adore Angel, Jazzed (from In the Groove), and Viva Glam Cyndi. I also use the Refined Golden bronzer and Ladyblush blushcreme on a daily basis. Rubenesque paint pot is amazing!
NARS:
Orgasm blush = Love. I also love one of their primers (can't remember the name). Ashes to Ashes and Corfu eyeshadows and Kyoto eyeliner are great too!
Stila:
My favorite brand of lipglosses! I have about 15 lipglazes. I suggest buying the set of 8 minis for $25. I also really love the lip & cheek stain in Pomegranate Crush (I like it better than Benetint!).
Urban Decay:
I have the Vegan Love palette and actually managed to get my hands on the Naked palette (!!!). I find the eyeshadows too glittery for my taste (I'm only 14!) and there's way too much fall-out. I like Sin primer potion, as well as Eden and the original. But the eyeliners are AMAZING. About 10000 times better than MAC's. They're ridiculously smooth and creamy. They're 18 bucks but completely worth it.
Benefit:
I like the ThatGal and Dr. Feelgood primers (although my everyday primer is Smashbox PF). The Benefit-to-Go kits are adorable!
Laura Mercier:
The Undercover Camoflauge pot and the oil-free tintred moisturizer are the best out there. End of story.
I LOVE the new Beauty section!! Kudos to whoever came up with it! <3

Oops! Almost forgot 2 of my favorites!
YSL:
Touche Eclat is an amazing undereye concealer, and the Faux Cils mascara is the absolute best one I've ever owned.
Dior:
I love DiorShow, as well as the 5-color palettes!

Hai Girls! Thanks for the thumbs up... tell your friends to stop by here and let everyone know what they like, and don't like too. That is also important. I like reading why something works and does not work. I thought it would be a natural fit. With as many people here knowledgeable and interested in makeup - we could share our ideas. It's a good thing that LuLu and tictac thought it was worth giving it a try and started things off with the polls!
Thanks again guys and have fun!!

Re: What is your favourite high end make up brand?
I'm loving this beauty section!
I started getting into makeup this year. It's kind of weird to be in my mid 20s and have never considered buying makeup. I focused more on skin care. For the longest time, the only things I had were Lipsmackers lipgloss, mascara and an eyelash curler! Here are a few things I've tried:
1. Face primers:
- Victoria's secret Pro airbrush FX (SPF 20): It does smell a bit like sunscreen. Goes on smooth and doesn't flake or rub off. Good for liquid and mineral foundation. It doesn't feel too light or heavy on the skin. Dewy finish. I used it for 2 weeks during summer. There weren't any issues in the first week. The second week, my face started to break out and got oily 3 hours after applying makeup. This might be great for people with normal skin. If you have a patch of dry skin, it's visible. I might try it again for winter.
- Lime Crime primer: No bueno! (Not good!) Unscented. It comes in a tiny container (like gel liner) and the primer contains bits of glitter. It's thick and feels heavy when you apply it on the face. If you're not quick in blending it onto the skin, it rubs off! Short staying power... my face got oily two hours later and the concealer wore off! It's expensive and not worth it.
- Korres silicone free face primer: It smells like orange creamsicle (it fades after an hour)! This is one of my favorite primers because it's mineral oil, silicone, and paraben free. It goes light and smooth on my face. At the beginning, it feels slightly sticky to the touch. Matte finish. I used it underneath BB cream and mineral makeup. Lasting power depends on the season: 5-7 hours on a hot/humid day and 6-8 hours on regular or chilly day. I only blotted my face once. If you have a patch of dry skin, it's slightly visible. I got a few occasional pimples but not a massive breakout.
- Rock and Republic tinted primer (SPF 20) in Ava: It was part of a set (tinted primer and illuminizer). It slightly smells like sunscreen. Fancy-looking pump bottle. Because it's a tinted mousse primer, you have to apply it quickly (1-2 pumps is enough). It feels light and smooth. Matte finish. The color neutralizes the redness on my cheeks. I used it under liquid and mineral foundation. Lasting power was 6-8 hours on a hot day. I wouldn't recommend it to people with dry skin because it makes any dry skin patch visible. No breakouts!
2. Concealer:
- Mac Studio finish SPF 35 concealer: I think the MUA gave me the wrong color, NC35. I tried using less and blending it with my pinkie or a brush (like Pixi2woo does) but my under eye area still looked unnatural and cakey! It kind of works when I use BB cream, but the results aren't satisfactory. I like the lasting power though. I might go back again and try another shade.
- Benefit Confessions of a Concealaholic: This set contains the Erase paste in medium, two small Boi-ing concealers (shades 1, 2), Lemon aid, Eye bright and that Gal primer. The Erase paste is awesome! I never knew that salmon concealer could erase my dark circles. The key is to use a minute amount of it. I can use it with and without makeup. It stays put and doesn't crease. Shade 2 of the Boi-ing concealer works the best for me. I only use a small amount after applying the Erase paste. Great lasting power. Lemon aid and Eye bright didn't work for me. Both wore off or collected under my eyelid crease after 3 hours.
3. Lipstick/ Lip gloss:
- Korres: I love their lip (lip butter, lipstick, cherry oil gloss, liquid lipstick) products!
- LancĂ´me: I only like one of their Juicy tubes (Tickled pink) and their Sweet balm (discontinued).
- Biotherm Glossy shine in 120 (bubblegum pink): It was my very first high end lip gloss. The color is lovely but I don't like the stickiness of it.
- Smashbox lip gloss in Pout and Luster: Both colors look bad on me and they're a bit too thick!
- C.O. Bigelow Ultral Mentha lip shine: I stock up on these whenever Bath and bodyworks have their anniversary sale! They're very moisturizing and the mint extract freshens my breath. I only use it at night. Don't buy the almond oil version... it's kind of messy and oily!

- C.O. Bigelow Ultral Mentha lip shine: I stock up on these whenever Bath and bodyworks have their anniversary sale! They're very moisturizing and the mint extract freshens my breath. I only use it at night. Don't buy the almond oil version... it's kind of messy and oily!
