honesty
we want honesty. we want nice. we want creative. we want the old blair. we want cool and funny like KatiePuckrikSmells . she does high end perfume reviews. she a journalist. we want nice girls doin good tutorials like xteener and lisaeldridgedotcom. they are professionals, but we dont want just professionals. we like regular girls showing us makeup and products too like the old blair and like the beautiful and peaceful mom sardun1. we posted in rave about a guru what we want. and by posting again and again about some girls getting a fake and into money we are saying that we want HONESTY!!! we dont care that girls get money for vids if they tell us. we can tell a money grubber from a nice person in their presentation of themselves. its not about money. read these posts, ignoring the ignorant posts with name calling because thats not mature or necessary. read these posts and youll find that we want honesty!

honesty.
just plain honestly.
if you're naturally rude, then be that.
if you're naturally nice, then be that.
if you just like to talk a certain way, then do it.
if you just give a positive review cause someone sent you something free, then say so.
just stop lying.

I agree it's all about being honest and not trying to just make it big to get every random online company to send you free products. I like it when they only accept from places they truly like, STOP lying to us to make a buck or get us to purchase from them. We want gurus who really care and communicate with their subbies.
Not to mention I want to see hotmiamistyles videos to go away and NEVER return. But above all, be honest and don't be a sell out. Don't call it a "review" and rave about ever single thing, that is not sincere.

Re: What would be your perfect guru
Don't give yourself a title, just use your first name or your nickname or whatever. After all, you're just another schmo who makes YouTube videos because you actually enjoy it.

Re: What would be your perfect guru
i rarely even watch vids anymore. rarely. only katiepuckricksmells becauses shes so creative in her descriptions of perfumes. i also watch blushingpixie because her voice is soothing and her style amazing. the beauty guru thing is boring now. and its too hard to trust anyone.

Re: What would be your perfect guru
Hey girl! First of all: don't call yourself a guru. Only about 10% of the people in the beauty community would deserve the title and they will not call themselves that, because they are too humble.
Okay, other things that draw me to a YT person:
1 - Good cam quality. You don't need to spend $400 on an HD cam, just use a good cam that you have. Only do videos in good lighting, otherwise chances are you'll get hate for darkness. Try to make videos in front of a window with natural lighting OR tape a couple of videos in different areas to see where the lighting is best. You will be forgiven a few videos in bad lighting, but when you ONLY do these, you won't get many subs.
2 - Be HONEST. Even if you get sent stuff, list both any positive aspects and negative ones. People will see right through you and when I feel like someone is not honest with me, I will unsub from them immediately. And don't ever lie about personal things either.
3 - When doing a review, think about what you work with (your skin type, what lashes you have, what brushes you applied the product with) and mention that. And don't say something like: "This will work on everyone!" Because it won't. If you have dry skin and the product works on you, it might work on other people with dry skin, but most likely not on someone with very oily skin. Also mention what you want in a product and if the product delivered that. Oh, and please use the products for some time to actually know how they work over a longer period. I hate these "reviews" when people used it once and then judge it. But first impression videos, of you applying something, are always lovely to watch.
4 - Don't be someone you're not. You're blunt in real life? Be blunt on Youtube (just don't swear
). You're shy in real life? Don't act like the most outgoing person. Because chances are people who know you will watch it and that'll be weird. Be yourself, with all your flaws. Just try not to be absolutely full of yourself.
5 - INTERACT WITH YOUR SUBS. Especially at an early stage. When you only get 10-20 comments per video, you will have the time to answer all of them. At least if it's just questions. Don't post a video and then leave, post a video and answer the comments quick. That is a great youtuber to me. Also try and be quick with doing requests (if it's something you want to do), that is always positive.
6 - If you have the money, do give aways. Even if it's just small things, there will be someone who would love it. Do contests. Even if it's selfmade things, people eat that up.
7 - If you're criticised, don't be a bitch about it.Take it into consideration. If people are hating on you, delete the comments and block them. Don't whine about ~jelis hataz~ in videos. It makes me unsub.

Re: What would be your perfect guru
i get really put off by people who do constant reviews on products sent to them. i immediately switch off as it is so obvious it is an advert; even if they genuinely really do like the product... it's best to do it for the fun and not for the perks of getting free make up.

pff pathetic!
"don't call yourself a guru because you need a title", pathetic!!!!!
Normal people would run if somebody called them a guru! who wants to be called a guru, unless you want to be charles manson.
and yes she deserves to be watched after all she is on YT and some stupid videos on YT get sucribers, that doesn't mean they are interesting!
as much as I am against this crazy trend, I am all for being fair...so let's be fair, uh, if she wants to be called a guru, let's call her that!

tries their best to respond to comments or is at least kind to their subscribers, takes criticism constructively, actually enjoys making videos (it's painfully obvious when their heart isn't in it), doesn't let popularity get to their head, grateful, honest, talented, fun to watch
