"NUDE LIPS" are unattractive!!!

I constantly hear gurus talking about "nude lips" (a.k.a., pale lips) and to go along with it, MAC's famous "Myth" lipstick.

I don't understand this stupid nude lips craze. On makeupalley, I constantly read about people wanting to find their perfect nude lipstick.

Honestly, pale lips are unattractive, ESPECIALLY those with darker skin tones. I thought women wanted to look YOUNG and RADIANT? Pale lips make one look JUST THE OPPOSITE!! COLOR on the lips have always been associated with YOUTH. One of the main purposes of lipstick is to add LIFE to a woman's face, not age it!!

Pale lips don't always look bad, but COLOR on the lips is ALWAYS BETTER.

Ugh!!! TheBombshellSuite does nude lips and it looks horrible. Plus she's really tan and it doesn't look right on her at all.

THANK YOU. someone needs to tell these girls that a lipstick 5 shades lighter than your skintone is NOT nude. it just makes you look like a corpse, or that you've just finished eating a bunch of powdered donuts. ew. not to mention they make you look so much older than you really are.

I think the trend started with the fashion runway shows. They featured models with nude lips. then the trend took off with celebrities. Then of course, some idiot women followed suit.

Well, I guess it does depend on the nude lippie you choose ! I think the right nude should be the color of your lip color, not much lighter than your own skin (concealer look !) unless you're going for something more specific !

It's a common sense rule (nowdays at least) to tone down the lips if you go heavier on the eyes, that's why the nude lips became so popular, hence the classic Kim Kardashian look ... smokey eyes and nude lips !

But you feel it's unflattering, just go for more colorful lips ! Makeup is about having fun and feeling pretty !

THANK YOU! It's definitely not attractive rather makes one look washed out so unless they're purposely going for the dead zombie look then I'd suggest a new shade of lipstick. I mean, it's completely possible to get a nude lipstick or gloss and pull it off - but these girls... they just don't know how to pick a flattering shade I guess. It kindof reminds me of like, Snooki on Jersey Shore...concealer/cum lips. That's hot.

im so glad youre talking about the nude lip craze and im so happy to agree with you! its horrible! i remember kandy johnson calling her own natural lip color "icky" and putting on nude lip stick. i felt so sorry for her. and myth! and lady gaga! horrible colors. i guess if that dramatic smokey eye was in, then a nude lip had to be in. but they took it too far! and now that the neutral eye is in, then a colorful lip can be in. i guess. i dont know how it works, other than some girls on youtube take it tooo far.

Psht! I consider naked lips or just lip-balm covered lips "nude". No need to perfect that ish with some lipstick and call it something it's not… it does work on some people, brings out the eyes, but rarely does it look good on the average girl.

I agree! I cannot see the attraction to a lipstick that looks like your skin tone. Fair enough it's perfect for Halloween if your going as something deathly but for everyday it looks slightly sickening. What happened to nice peach lipsticks? Or even the classic red? Of course, neither may be up some peoples street but why choose a sickening nude over a flush of colour peach?

I hate nude lips too, it always reminds me of Snookie for some reason. It's just trashy looking.

You can have nude lips be very pretty. IF they are too pale, then, yes you do look like a corpse.

I think nude lips can look okay if done correctly, with the right shade, and with the rest of the makeup done to compliment it (not I look I would personally wear even so). But the problem is so many people get it horribly wrong.

It's like blue eyeshadow. When done properly it can look beautiful, but when done badly it's awful.

So many people would be better off pairing their smokey eyes with a clear gloss or balm. The idea is to have a soft or muted lip. Not a chalky train wreck.

I have got to agree with everything you said! I think it looks so plain personally when someone has very neutral eyes then nude lips too, it's just too much in my opinion.

I'm not much in to nude lips, but they can look fine as long as you don't go lighter than your skin tone. Using a nice blush really helps because it adds life back to your face.

Its like all the gurus do the same thing in their tutorials now, spend almost all the video doing their eys, blending their shadows, putting on a base, a primer, and fake eyelashes, then they are like

"Oh fuck, I have to do cheeks AND lips too? Lemme just grab this nude lipstick and pinky peach blush I use in every other video I do"

Its all really half assed and annoying to me. No though is put into it. Kind of like TiffanyD or the QVC sisters never ending stream of boring neutral looks with a "pop of color". They know what works and whats makes them money so they do the same thing over and over again. If you are a guru on YT, I think it is important to provide a wide array of looks for any type of person who visits your channel, ya know?

I agree, usually in tutorials the whole video is taken up by the eyes, which has bored me for some while. I mean just by looking at an image of an eye make up design I wouldn't need to use as many products as they do. Like different shades of purple or brown or whatever. It's pointless! I think it would be better if the video was evenly split up like, a third on the eyes a third on the face and then a third on the lips, know what I mean?

I agree she looks crazy with nude lips and with that tan. She looks like she's trying to be hard to be a guidette with the tan and nudelips.

I don't see the point in the nude lip phase. Seriously, if you're doing a nude lip, you should at least get a gloss with that that has at least some color, because nude lips look like jizz lips to me and that's a definite hell no look if it's just plain washed-out nude lips. At least add some color to it. I'd rather do a nude with some semi color lipgloss like the Victoria's Secret lipgloss like Elegance lipgloss. Well that's just me personally, I I had to a nude lip with that look. Don't kick my ass for saying that.

Others may disagree with this but I think one of the few people that can pull off a nude lip well is SMLxO. Maybe it's because she's tan or the way her features are but I think nude lips really suit her.

I'm going to have to disagree. I don't think nude lips are unattractive. WHITE pastel-y lips are unattractive. Let's compare, shall we?

yes, i know that is a pretty big comparison, as Eva's photo is beautiful and thebombshellsuite's is a candid. You should get the idea, though. Not everyone is into the whole nude lip thing, I am because I have naturally very red pigmented lips, so I like wearing nude sheer colors or pink lipsticks. They just look the best on me...just like some girls look great in a red lip or a dark lip. If you are tan, or orange, you shouldn't wear a lip color that is so pale as it looks ashy and unnatural.
