Hi Everyone!

i just started a makeup channel.... (FINALLY!) my username is Makeupavenue09. I'd thought I'd start off my channel with a bang so I got some stuff for a giveaway....such as: (DRUMROLL PLEASE!)

It really turned me off that you were already talking about wanting to get free products for consideration in your first video. That sounds like something Blair would have said in her first video. Not meaning to sound rude, just trying to give you a little feedback.

I just wanted to be as honest as possible....also I was thinking...if a company chooses to send me products...I'll only review it if I like it and in addition buy one with my own money to giveaway...I just want to be honest to my viewers....

Congrats for putting yourself out there. Now for some honest critiquing…Please don't take offense as I am speaking as a viewer and what makes me click on another video.

Chose better lighting. In one video I felt like I was in a dingy crack house. I know I wasn't, but it was so dark I was afraid for you.

Slow down when you talk. You want your audience to hear and understand what you are saying.

Be sure everything you are putting out there for public viewing is in focus. A big turn off with viewers is blurry pictures and video.

Your video on acne scar covering was informative, but too distracting with the fast paced voice over and out of focus video. If you have outtakes or can refilm/edit it I would do a do over.

I honestly am not a fan of giveaways 2 videos in. It comes across as desperate or trying to buy an audience. Telling your viewers you will be doing giveaways every few videos is a stretch. You will be put on blast in a heartbeat once you fail to do what you claim.

Sponsored videos are fine as long as the person is not a sellout. I got the feeling you could become one of those sellouts many at GG like for a mid-morning snack. Be honest with your reviews good and bad.

I'm still practicing with my camera and trying to get the lighting and focus down pat...my upcoming videos are much better!

I agree with the fast talking- my next voice over is a lot slower =) I don't think I'm going to refilm the acne scarring video yet- maybe in 6 months to a year...practice makes perfect!

As for the giveaways- I'm not on youtube to get views or make money. I honestly enjoy makeup and teaching people how to apply it. I want to go to cosmetology school- it's not just a hobby, it's something I really want to do with my career! (I'm actually looking into a Bobbi Brown internship!!!) With that being said, I wasn't always able to afford high end makeup and I would watch girls use things I could never afford. I found myself frustrated and thought- if I ever start a channel, I'm going to give things I use away so they can not only learn from me, but someone can actually use the same thing! No one does it...they just buy and buy and never give back. I'm not like that..... It's more of a way to connect to my viewers positively now that I work and afford more high end products. I really do plan to do giveaways every 2-4 videos....it won't always be high end makeup but I really want to do it! Also I have a lot of makeup I no longer use...why not give it to my viewers if their interested. For example, the Naked Pallete. I bought it last year and barely use it. Waste of 50 bucks. I'm sure a viewer would still want it....

As for sponsorships- Moneys great...but it's not worth compromising your honesty.

I was wondering if anyone is interested in fashion videos on how to vamp up your dress code as much as possible?

I'm 'makeupavenue09' on youtube...I have a really strict dress code so I've been putting off OOTD but if anyones interested I can film em with my dress code regulations =)
