As great as some of the small gooroos MAY be, self promotion is a red flag. If they're not doing it for FUN or for genuine reasons, then they won't be promoting themselves. In other words, self promotion is a sign of selling out, imo.

^ agreed. also there is already a section for underrated gurus in the rave part as well as various topics for new gurus with advice in the general part. just go browse around and you'll see!

anyone that seriously thinks they are that good that they have the balls to come over to the "trash a guru" site and promote themself after their first few youtube videos will be a monster once they have the slightest bit of youtube "fame".

yup. also no one respects you if you feel the need to self promote and subscriber-hungry, so to speak. you should value every single one of your subs as people, not as numbers.

after i watched lisa eldridges video today, it just makes everyone else look trashy. she has about 30k now and said she is not a partner and does this to actually help people, not make money or get subbies and relies on word of mouth for her success. for her contest she isnt even asking for her followers to do anything; they are automatically entered in a competition just for being loyal. i mean, wow... if everyone had that amount of class, the youtube community would be a lovely place. perhaps all 'gurus' could take a leaf out of her book.

i was noticing this. well one person in particular who was comming on here and posting in every single topic section if people could give her feedback. it was getting annoying.

Lisa Eldridge is the ONLY one I watch anymore. She is a professional, and I gladly accept her tips and tricks. I can not think
of any other makeup person on YT that I think is worthy of watching. I wish the only gurus on YT were true professionals, as well
as not partners.

I predict that all the other gurus will fade away. Some of them have been on five years though!!!!! Wonder how long they can keep it up?
I would be bored with it, as I already am as a past viewer.

If I want real advice, I go straight to the pro's, no one else, especially the ones seeking fame alone, so they just flip out video after nonsensical video for it.

YT is starting to go down the drain though anyway. Bliptv and other video sites are better and becoming more popular, where others can also make money from their videos of 'substance.'

thanks to those who are following the under 5000 subs in the underrated, rule. i still have had to move quite a few recently though, so dont think i dont catch you out. because i will. every single one.

also, dont bother colouring the titles of your new topics as i will change them. if you have paid attention, you will note that all the topics in blue are general discussion raves, whereas the individual gurus are in the regular purple colour. i would like to keep it that way please!

FYI to the person that posts a new topic on the same bloody person every day, i am deleting it because you are not following the rules. there is a section dedicated to subbies with less than 5k. you are wasting your time as i am going to keep deleting it.

there seems to be a massive self promo epidemic here at the moment. it is not OK to start new topics on yourself, especially if you are a new guru. you have your own section you can post into. Also, please dont try spamming yourself under loads of different topics either, it's kind of annoying and people can spot it a mile away...
